What about her keyboard skills?

Can the judges and celebrities on the BGMT panel not give us feedback on her actual playing? Or is that physically impossible?

All I heard about Jean tonight was, "Oh she makes everyone smile", "Oh she looks like she's having so much fun", "Oh, shes bonkers and crazy", "Oh she's loving herself up there".

Why must they only speak of her bizarre and cringeworthy behaviour? I can't think of a single moment where somebody actually reflected on her keyboard playing skills. And it's the same for people at home who called in or skyped or whatever. People have actually voted for this woman because she's a bloody nutter.

If I'm wrong, do tell me. I can't recall a single moment where her keyboard playing was critiqued, positively or negatively.

I'm not asking if she's good or bad, I'm asking why won't anyone BLOODY WELL MENTION IT.

All they care about is that she acts strange behind the keyboard. It drives me mad.

Don't let it get to you. Think of Britain's Got Talent as an entertainment show rather than a serious talent competition. It should be judged on ability but it isn't so it's impossible to take it seriously. Cowell thrives on controversy in order to maintain viewing figures and keep his shows in the papers. The best approach is to not get emotionally involved and to watch his shows with detached bemusement. Additionally, bear in mind that the panel know nothing about piano and keyboard playing.

I was feeling quite cross about how shit she is and how ott the positive reaction to her is but then I read your post and I don't feel quite so cross now.

Good point, well made, red_outlaw, thanks!

The panel is very poorly skilled to be judging anyone who plays an instrument. I think that only the Hoff plays one - guitar - and I'm guessing that he's not that good. But the public are just as bad with their voting so...

I would add that Simon Cowell knows nothing about music : I don't think he even likes it or ever listens to it in his leisure time.

Because they do not have the knowledge to comment on that.

McIntyre knows nothing about talent, so doesn't say anything about it, just 'the audience loved it', 'you have charisma' etc etc.

Or it could be because someone would pick up on the fact she wasn't playing live. They should never have done those give away over head shots.

A couple of points, and let me start by saying that I'm no keyboard or piano player, so I'm talking as a layman.............I stand to be corrected but, firstly, she didn't appear to be playing live, though I can't be 100% sure on that. Secondly, it seemed to me that she's not technically that accomplished (anyone with more knowledge than I on this, please chime in). She didn't seem to be hitting quite a few of the chords cleanly, and the runs seemed mis-timed and clumsy.

they dont really mention the elephant in the room.

Like her playing was horrendous, but she played it with such confidence and gusto I dont think they had the heart to tell her.

Same with the croaky voiced old guy. I dont think they had the heart to tell him his voice is gone.

And i guess theyre right, what good would it do destroying them live on tv?

Horrible, dated, tuneless, over-the-top playing style.

Nothing you couldn't find on any pier in any seaside town

I found it quite telling how her partner lives in a different house to her, if that doesn't show how effing annoying she just must be IRL I dunno what does.

Sorry but i find all the little kiddie wannabe singers vastly more annoying, as well as the street dancers!

My son plays the piano and keyboard. He's doing his grades on Jazz Piano at the moment. I was out last night so missed the show - but was quite surprised when I got home and asked who went through - seeing as he told me 'the mad lady' who plays the keyboard did, despite being bloody awful!

We liked her in the first audition - but he said that technically this time her playing was terrible. I hope I can watch the show on catchup or something to see what I make of it.

I would have thought he'd be pleased a musician/keyboard player got through - but I think the man who played the piano and got through the other night is better.

sounded a lot of backing track and the keyboard playing pre programmed arrangements that you get on those sort of electronic organs

you could tell the bits she was playing as she was totally out of time with the backing at times and to me sounded like abou 4 different songs all being played at the same time .. just a horrible noise to me

My son also said she was completely out of time with the music! Sounds like he was right!

Then why didn't she play in time last night as that is what she is judged on?

You claim that she was good when as a fact she played out of time and that isn't good!

So not sour grapes just facts!
