Just been looking back over previous finals....

Series 1
3 singers
1 dance group
1 puppet act
1 'juggling' act (bar wizards)

Series 2
4 dance acts
3 singers
1 dog act
1 instrumental act
1 martial art act

Series 3
4 dance acts
5 singers
1 instrumental act

Series 4
4 singing acts
2 dance acts
1 dog act
1 gymnastic act
1 impressionist
1 instrumental act

So, out of 36 finalists so far over 4 series, we have 15 singing acts (42%), 11 dance acts (30%) and 10 'other ' acts (28%).

Admittedly there is variation in the styles of the singing and dancing acts, but it still seems that you don't stand much of a chance of a final place unless you are a singer or dancer of some description.

Indeed, yet we still watch :

Of course, despite all the finals being loaded with singers, only 1 has ever won...

i dont understand.

In Great Britain as a whole, singing is by far the most common "talent" people would have followed by musical instruments and dancing.

So out of everyone auditioning you'ld expect there to be a higher proportion of singer and dancers.

And because theres a higher proportion of singers auditioning then it stands to reason that theres a higher proportion getting through to the top 40.

The fact that people are saying theres some sort of conspiracy to benefit Simons record company is just barmy.
