I think we can safely say SC lies
its not a contradiction.
He can know about them asking permission for a leona song, he can know about plans about the contents of the act but not necessarily know the exact day the boys going to perform.

I know but he's slipping up big time. Last years XF was a complete farce and while we know these shows are scripted, we don't want it to be made glaringly obvious. I know Eastenders isn't real but if the director kept popping up in scenes to remind me of it I would soon get irritated. Things like Simon contradicting himself how he did tonight are really annoying. Don't pretend as if you don't know what's happening on the show you produce and then say you contacted someone about it a week ago!
I think the quality of the show this year is a testament to the fact that simon is genuinely out of the loop and doesnt know whats going on this year

He said Leona would be watching so obviously he had to know what night to tell her. Simon in heavily involved in BGT. Of course he knows what's going on, it's his job. I have no problem with that, it's the pretending that's irritating. It's like when I was enjoying the magic trick last night until they ruined it at the end when taking the lid off the box. I know it's not really "magic" but their slip totally ruined the illusion that I wanted to enjoy.
He doesn't even bother to hide the fact that he's merely after the act that can make him the most money after the show any more. He's a manipulative, greedy tw*t. Who do you think it was that insisted the Britney lookalike came back? And don't say the Hoff!
