Typical Simon. He's very narrow minded.

I appreciate Amanda for always embracing the weird and wonderful.
theres not much money in it for simon with bell ringers

he doesnt have a sob story, ds forums was where everyone kept going on about his sob story, he went out there and performed and no one said anything about his 'sob story'?? so back off him already, he actually has talent which is more entertaining than the creepy bell ringers
His sob sorry was milked to death on his audition - check it out you dont believe me.
Also, can you clarify the creepy comment regarding the bell singers ?

But couldnt you also say that the bell ringers got through by a sob story? People calling them 'oddballs' in love... Thats why many people said the public liked them.... so... it goes both ways.

And actually on James' vt in the semis he never mentioned he had autism again... nor did he cry. Just got on with it and looked grateful for getting through.

How's that a sob story if other people are describing them as that? I don't remember them calling themselves that.

We have had many dancers in the final, but never any Bell Ringers in the semi finals let alone the finals.
And he is actually quite mediocre. Hes good for his age, but would he get through if he was a couple of years older? Or if he didnt have a sob story?

I agree with this. ( Don't know his sob story 'tho! )
We have indeed had our fair share of dancers but never nothing like the bell ringers who I thought were fab. Not creepy or old hat, just a different sort of variety ( what the show is supposed to be about ) and they played those bells brilliantly. Only my opinion of course

If I lay my cards on the table I thought the kid's dancing was nothing special.

But because he has autism, are we allowed to say the truth when political correctness is throttling the UK.

Totally agree!

He was very average, some of the stuff wasn't complicated at all and he was out of sync with the music. It was basically exactly the same routine as his audition with some dry ice on the floor. It lacked polish and there was ZERO stage presence or charisma.

They've overplayed the autism card FAR too much. FFS he's only mildly autistic, he aint full on Rainman or the kid out of Mercury Rising.

prepare to get flamed for that comment, but i do agree, i did not see anything special from it, and sorry to say if somebody without autism had done that routine, i very much doubt they would have got through the auditions without getting 3 buzzers, never mind getting through to the semis, then the final, a startling case of reverse discrimination if i have ever seen one

Guess i could reply they were better in a middle aged couple sort of way But seriously you can't define how he was better. It's your opinion of which you are totally entitled to. Personally i found Alan and Gay more entertaining and despite what Mr.Cowell said in his rude way in my opinion Her Majesty may have been pleased to see them at the Royal Variety Performance.

As someone with mild Aspergers (I don't like saying it ) if James was voted through partly because of his autism, and not as much because of his act, IMO that is wrong.
Positive discrimination is just that, discrimination.
I'll YT James' dance later.

I thought his dance was good and the choice of music fitted his story somehow

I thought his dancing was great. I liked the bell ringers, but there were some clear mistakes, which is why I prefer the dancing kid, as he did a better job.

As for the 'sob story'; he mentioned once that he had autism and that was at the beginning of his audition. He has never mentioned it again, nor has there been interviews with him and his parents, yadda yadda yadda. His dancing was good and people are just miffed that the bell ringers didn't go through. I liked the bell ringers and I predicted them to be in the top three, but I thought the kid edged it.

His dancing was good and the song kinda fitted him (maybe I see myself in him)? "I just want to be happy", isnt that what we all want?

Don't get me wrong, I love dancing and I enjoyed his audition but I didn't think much of yesterday's routine.

There is only so many times you can stick a leg up in the air before it gets boring. Sorry.

There will also be a lot of ballet dancers etc on the Royal Variety anyway, there always is, and I agree that the Queen might just prefer something different. (no, I don't know her, I did invite her to my birthday party but I think her reply must have got lost in the post )

As for the sob story element, Amanda mentioned it in a way even though she voted for the bell ringers, but its not something that would help in the R.V. performance (unless you put it up on a screen ) and I think the audience might wonder what was so 'special' about him without it! - obviously this is just my opinion!

Simon was very rude about the bell ringers and it was totally unnecessary.

The clue is in the title - Royal VARIETY, get it, Mr Cowell?

100% correct. I would rather watch someone scratching their arse for 3 minutes than have to endure those awful bells again with Lurch and his wife

So because you would rather scratch your arse for 3 minutes than watch them means that someone saying they were s**t is 100% correct. I guess that means if someone doesn't like something it automatically means they are s**t. I wouldn't want to watch that boy dancing again but i don't think he is s**t because of it. Guess we all have our own outlook on life.

i watched his audition at the time and his sob story was not milked on his auditions, people were just informed about his condition and thats it which they do with most of the acts. you canot deny james has talent
regarding the creepy conment, aint it clear?! lol i felt they were creepy

there are at least two other dance competitions that kid could compete in. And the fact that he already has and failed in Got To Dance just shows his standard of dance isnt worthy of winning the £100,000

for me the bell ringers were the most british act of the top 40. A couple of overweight, rather unattractive middle aged people doing something that wouldnt look out of place in a village fete

If there was an act that should go in front of the queen and an act that i think sheld appreciate, the bell ringers are them
