Just wondering, how many black men has their been on The Apprentice, and in how many seasons?

I remember there was the black guy in the first season, Tim, who won it.

You would be better off writing to the producers and asking for a racial breakdown of all applicants.

I do not like threads like this to be honest.

Threads like this always end up in the gutter. To be honest I hope a moderator closes this thread before it goes 10 pages because one poster said something offensive.

Umgee, I can understand where you are coming from based on your other posts, But it is just not worth it. We the viewers do not choose the candidates for this or any other program.
No good can come from creating this type of thread.

Randall Pinkett won the US apprentice.

Ugh, it's not nice when people try to shut down the acknowledgement of ethnic minorities. It's like they have a guilty conscience something. *shrugs*

There's nothing wrong with acknowledging someone's ethnic background, as it is a pretty important attribute in the world we live in.

Ah yes, he was in the show with the chubby girl, Ruth(or whatever her name was)?

I've watched around 4 seasons, but only remember Tim and Ansell as black men participating.

I can see where you going with this but you asked a question which so far no-one knows, so you're advised to ask the programme producers, where is the shutting down of this acknowledgement?
Like said I see what you're doing and there's nothing wrong with that, but the way you're coming across is abrupt by picking at holes that are not there - which is doing nothing positive in getting your answer.

And do you know what I cant stand? When youve got self righteous posters who want to close a thread because it upsets their little PC minds.

If you dont like the thread, then dont go into it. The OP raised a point. The validity of which is worthy of discussion. Its pathetic going 'Ooooh Im afraid where this might go, so lets close everything down so we can keep nice and secure in here.'

I asked 2 simple questions, which I would assume seasoned fans of the show would be capable of asking.

Indeed I was advised to "ask the programme producers", which was a ridiculous and patronising piece of advice.

You really can't see where I am going with this. What holes have I picked, what suggestions have I made?

I wonder what kind of response I would have received if I had queried the number of physically handicapped people that have been contestants on the show? Hmmm

Out of interest, why men, specifically?

Presumably because there is a black woman on this year's show.

If Wikipedia is correct (yes, probably not) then black people make up only 2% of the population, which means The Apprentice, if anything, has over-represented black people on the show!!

...not that I'm suggesting they should reduce the numbers! But at the same time they shouldn't feel compelled to have a black candidate to fit some PC quota.

I liked him until the last few minutes of the final. Trump considered offering a position to the runner up as well -- it was a close choice -- and asked Pinkett what he thought. Pinkett immediately said something to the effect of "No, there should be only one winner". And so the other guy was deprived what seemed like a dream job for him.

It was a woman and she ended up having a media career and doing quite well by the sounds of it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebecca_Jarvis

This is the BBC we are talking about ..... the corporation with more checkboxes than a checkbox making company.

You assumed wrong. I have watched every season of the UK Apprentice and even I wasn't sure that Tim was the only black man, I also couldn't tell you how many men, women, white women, asian men, etc either. As I said this is the responses so far, so perhaps someone else who has also watched all the episodes could give you all types of statistics better than me.

Other than viewers, who else but those who work on or make the programme could know the answer? This is all the poster recommended; if I wasn't sure I would have said to wait to see if another viewer would know the answer or ask the BBC too, and I wouldn't have said it to be patronising, it would be because I wouldn't know where else you could get a definite answer.
If you asked about disabled contestants, I would said none but I'm not entirely sure and to ask the BBC too.

Well at the bottom of the Apprentice UK Wikipedia page you can find links to each years "meet the candidates" pages of the BBC press offfice website. Each of those, apart from the first, includes pictures of the candidates as well as a mini-biog so it's not a hard question to find the answer to.

It would seem that series 2 was indeed the last one to contain a black male candidate.

However every series except two (and possibly one, no picture) has included at least one black female.

Furthermore every series has included at least one candidate (and as many as four) whose ethnic origin has been India or Asian.

Obviously I (and pretty much everyone else) do not have enough information to guage how representative the final line-up is of the applications received.

Ok, so there has overall been 2 - 3 black men who have appeared in the Apprentice series. Now, how many Chinese men have ever appeared on the show?

I tell you what though - the black candidate who one the first (or was it 2nd?) series of UK Apprentice would walk all over pretty much any candidate from the last 4 series put together. He was quality.

It's only a question - why are you getting your knickers in a twist over it? More typically round here, it's threads about black women which normally descend into nastiness and farce although any thread has the potential to get silly.

Pretty sure Glen, last night's winning PM, is mixed-race, ...
