Noticed there was no mention on the show of how bad his pitch was. He didn't introduce himself, bumbled his way through it and actually had to say "sorry about that" to his audience.

What was more confusing was the team saying how well he did when he remarked that no-one had told him what they thought about it.

Nerves obviously got the better of him, I'm just wondering why LS didn't bring up the fact it took him 5 hours to plan for it.

I thought it was strange too how there was no mention of how awful he was. There was also no mention of Melody's strong pitch either (albeit she talked a bit too fast) but good pitches have been highlighted in the past.

It was a poor effort, especially as Leon had 5 hours to practice and perfect what he was going to say. I was really disappointed in him during this task, he wasn't taking it seriously enough.

The pitches seemed irrelevant in the end though.

What I found odd that the marketing people thought that Melody´s pitch was patronizing and Leon´s pitch was more engaging

Especially since you could tell from the team´s reactions that this was obviously not the case (for them)

It seemed liked the marketing people were more looking to the personality of the pitcher instead of the actual quality of the pitch (which is rather odd for their jobs).


P.S. What would they have then made of Edna´s pitch

Actually I don't think they liked Melody's pitch. They said one was "too patronising" I can't imagine that being Leon's.

Yeah that was strange. I thought Melody did a brilliant job and was very professional.

I'd be willing to bet that if they lost the task they'd change their tune and bring their remix out about his bad pitch.

Melody did a good pitch and is very professional but god is her voice annoying! She has to milk every syllable for what it's worth and then some!

I thought it WAS Leon's that would be thought of as patronising as he spent most of the time (albeit stumblingly) explaining things that would have been perfectly obvious, like the meaning of the tape measure, the really bad pun etc.

Oh no she was almost shouting at her audience.
Too dominant without charisma or charm.
Leon was the polar opposite. Too weak and without enthusiasm.

He didn't want to do the pitch and it showed.

I did wonder if Leon was making a turn in this process after last week but I'm not so sure now. I actually find him abit wishy washy. I have no clear idea of if he's good, bad or in between.

The impression I got was that the replies to the questions were deemed "patronising" - in other words the inisistence that a brand of dog food for all dogs was the way to go. It felt like Jim and Vincent thought they knew better than the market leaders.

I agree. He seemed to think being given the pitch was a 'strategic' move which was bizarre. Why is he in this process if he's not willing to have a go?

I'd agree with that. His delivery was poor, but his content was good. He explained a lot of detail about their campaign. Given that the campaign is what won it, he deserves a lot of credit for that win.

The campaign leads up to the pitch. It´s like saying a movie has a strong script, so a director deservedly wins an oscar for it.

Somehow I can´t see his actual pitch (unless it was heavily edited for some laughs) motivating the marketing people. It was the PM´s who both made the campaigns for their teams (Zoe would have been for the chop if Glenn would have taken her idea and then lost the task).

Which is why I actually kind of understand Edna for doing the pitch when she was PM, as it was ultimately her product (and her neck on the line) and she knew the most about it. Remember Mona stumbling through the pantsman presentation

His pitch was crap, it's the worst pitch that I can remember since that woman (with twin accent's) from a couple of series ago, who thought that she was a great pitcher.

People get behind those who do badly during pitches. It shows that you're human, so they can empathise with you.

Generic business pitches like Melody's are horrible.

Um so um, basically, erm, the idea is that um, the product will erm stop um dogs from being too erm underweight and being under I mean overweight I mean not too overweight so um sorry there

Bearing in mind we knew that Leon had to speak for 20 minutes, I think his pitch was edited in true Apprentice style just to show his stumblings. We saw less than a minute of his pitch, so perhaps the other 19 minutes were relatively ok.

That makes a lot of sense.

The clients they are pitching to are fully aware that the presenters are only selling a prototype idea & this won't be their field of expertise, plus it's a product that will never see the light of day. So I expect they would be asked to be a bit more lenient when it came to any mistakes made.

Melody's was very sterile and in your face which could put peoples backs up. Leon did make a fist of it but the clients may have warmed to his bumbling and found it more human.

One of the biggest rules in selling is to sell yourself, people tend to buy from people they like crack that with a 'cold audience' and so long as your product is half decent your more than likely to get a result.

We were told that the pitch should be 20 minutes long but we only got to see 2 minutes of it, how can we judge their pitches on the amount that we're shown?

I get the feeling he thinks he's a bit too cool for school, and probably, unwisely, thought his can't be arsed "charms" would go down well in a trendy Ad Agency.

Leon was nervous and it showed but it wasn't a bad pitch really, especially considering he didn't really want to do it but was told to. The other team did a better pitch though.

I think a lot of the pitches content was unshown, and I can imagine Leon getting into the swing of it and coming across quite well by the end (assuming it was for 20 mins) whereas Melody would have just got on their nerves after 20 minutes I think. She's clearly spoken and structures her sentences properly, but that doesn't mean she's a great speaker.

Leon seems an all round good chap, and they probably liked his personality in the pitch more than Melody's.

It was all part of the evil editors' plot to make us think Glenn's team was going to fail!
