Did you good people read the article about Britian's Got Talent? It's shocking! It mentions X Factor once by saying the best contestants are often hand picked even before auditions. I wonder if Matt was involved in any of this?

I love Seven Summers music and I really love the live performances. I wish there were more videos of their live gigs.

I was hoping that as Matt has a joint deal with Syco and Columbia that they might be a bit more open about what the winner is up to or even release a single earlier than the winner usually releases but unfortunately this hasn't happened.

Yeah, it said they've been grooming that young boy Ronan after seeing him sing when he was 10. They have him under a contract which he basically can't ever get out of and won't make much money from. I hope Matt gets to cross over to Columbia 100%

there was discussion of this a while back... seems there's some scouting that goes on, which I suppose is understandable as they don't want a show full of duds (but from what I've heard, that hasn't helped much with BGT this year, if it is true!)

it could conceivably have been the case with Matt, but I'm inclined to believe his version of events

Well they did send in a video of Matt, so it's entirely highly possible he was handpicked via that, which is above board, and in fact to be commended for some forward planning on his friend's behalf (even if it was without his knowledge)
Without that video would we be sure he'd hit their radar??
Although from the reaction of the crowd throughout & after his infamous rendition of "I'm No Good" (I'd say you're a bad boy alright) Matt was on a winning streak even without a forwarded video yay!!

Let's remind ourselves again of the day that Matt Cardle was introduced to us lucky lucky viewers

PS I say we should go through all his XF performances in order and say what we thought then and what we think now, in retrospect

I had to change the link chosen for me as that one didnt work for me. But I heard that from my mams kitchen and came through to see who the voice belonged to. I loved him and thought he was the cutest thing ever. Loved the soulful voice and he just sounded different. (looked hot as ) Sure there were maybe *technically* better singers on the show but they were probably rejected as they all sounded the same. But as far as emotionally putting across a song IMO noone does it better than Matt

He didn't even know the video had gone in, the producers would certainly have looked at it with interest tho..Absolutely no cover up, or big plan in place, just forward planning on producers' parts, which probably narrowed down thousands & thousands of entries...stretching out for a long long time

ETA...btw QM has posted an article on this same thing on twitter too...haven't read it, so not shooting myself in the foot with my innocuous remarks i hope. I jus see it as narrowing down hundreds of thousands of potential tat to get a few diamonds to watch out for??

The article was about BGT anyway, it probably applies to XF to some extent but I don't think Matt is an example of it.

the theme for Round Seven of the Scavenger Hunt will be announced about 5 pm today!

From Sunday until Thursday, gonna see some shows as celebnration for me finishing uni. It'll be the longest I've gone without the MAT since I signed up

It says every winner of XF and BGT has been subject to this - so they are including Matt in it. I think Matt was subject to it - we know he was invited, we know he did loads of interview stuff that they used later and we know not everyone gets that. I think anyone who has watched this show closely as we have must accept that the live finalists are determined in advance and the VT's done to make people like them. (though I am sure Matt would have had the same reaction anyway)

Then once the live shows start they try to manipulate the public into eliminating the ones they want to lose (and they are not above changing the rules as they go along to achieve that - Katie? Cher?)

Whether they always get the actual overall winner they want is debatable - but I very much doubt they have ever got a winner that wasn't in their top 5 from the beginning.

Last year they all thought Olly would win and continued after the show as if he had!!!

Where Matt fits into this is hard to say - there's no suggestion that any of the contestants are complicit - I think Syco will be pushing Cher and 1D and leaving Matt to do his thing because he doesn't fit the Syco stereotype anyway - just like he did with Susan Boyle who ironically is easily his most successful act - though I do wonder if she's have been quite such a sensation if it was not for the judges almost certainly faked reactions at her audition!!

Absolutely, they clearly edit the auditions and interviews to present the contestants in a certain way. Cher for example was given a lot of exposure, she was even on This Morning after only her first audition was aired.

I never doubted there is a considerable amount of control over what happens but how much the contestants themselves know about it I'm not sure. Katie seems to have had something going on behind the scenes to keep her in, but Matt isn't your typical fame hungry person and just seems too honest about it all.
