I never thought I'd have a flash back about taking a crap in primary school but I just did thanks to this thread.
That God awful tracing paper was like a practical joke or something. This is why, even as a kid I would make a mental note to go before I left the house in the morning. |

We used to have it in our school years ago and it was useless. It just used to spread the poo around instead of wiping your bum clean.
One brand that was brought to my attention was Izal medicated strong toilet paper : No jobs finished until the paperwork is done. Does anyone still use this? |

I remember, and I also remember newspaper squares, hung up on a piece of string in our outside toilet.

Never took a dump in 5 years of secondary school. Trained myself to only go in the evenings, an ability I seem to have lost in recent years.

We used make called Bronco. I remember because there was a cowboy programme with Bronco Lane?
Bronco, Bronco Tearing along the dusty plain Bronco, Bronco Lane We sang Tearing along the dotted line... There was a way of making the toilet paper softer by scrunching it up - I can't really explain. When soft toilet paper became available we had both for a bit as my Dad preferred the hard paper.

That stuff was bloody awful.
It would never absorb any shit at all - but instead just spread it all around your arse hole like you were decorating a chocolate cake. It was only effective when folded several times so you could use it to scrape the shit off.

![]() ![]() ![]() Damn! Can you imagine what us girls went through when we had to fold and use between 'the lips' as well? Even when it was dampened, it was like wiping with the corner of a table!

We had loads of it in our house - my dad used to work for Newton Chambers, the firm that made it.

![]() And yes, there's still some in Schonefeld Airport. Might as well just shake myself dry... I thought I was back at primary school!

We had normal bog roll in primary school but the trace paper s**t was in my secondary school. I complained endlessly to my parents about how awful it was and they didn't believe me until I nicked a roll and took it home. They were appalled!. I went to school with my own nice tissue paper after that.
