I never thought I'd have a flash back about taking a crap in primary school but I just did thanks to this thread.

That God awful tracing paper was like a practical joke or something. This is why, even as a kid I would make a mental note to go before I left the house in the morning.

Does anyone still use this?”

Yes, I had this in my primary in the late 90's. The school was built in the 60's. and still had the water fountins and dinner plates cookers and tv's etc from when it opened. Only when I was leaving did they start to remove the asbestos.

I remember it at school and also in those horrible toilets at parks.

Horrible, horrible stuff, I'm delighted it's discontinued.

I remember, and I also remember newspaper squares, hung up on a piece of string in our outside toilet.

Never took a dump in 5 years of secondary school. Trained myself to only go in the evenings, an ability I seem to have lost in recent years.

Nasty nasty .. .. Used to shred my backside to pieces..

Thinking about it now.. i think a sheet of sandpaper would do a better job ..

We used make called Bronco. I remember because there was a cowboy programme with Bronco Lane?
Bronco, Bronco
Tearing along the dusty plain
Bronco, Bronco Lane

We sang

Tearing along the dotted line...

There was a way of making the toilet paper softer by scrunching it up - I can't really explain. When soft toilet paper became available we had both for a bit as my Dad preferred the hard paper.

Damn! Can you imagine what us girls went through when we had to fold and use between 'the lips' as well? Even when it was dampened, it was like wiping with the corner of a table!

God I remember that god awful stuff, rough as hell on one side, glassy smooth on the other, dreaded needing a sh*t at school.

We had loads of it in our house - my dad used to work for Newton Chambers, the firm that made it.

A 5 1/2 year old thread? Really?

And yes, there's still some in Schonefeld Airport. Might as well just shake myself dry... I thought I was back at primary school!

Yes my grand parents used it in the 70 till early 80 ties the smell was something else. Similar to that horrid smell of vozene med shampoo. Another useless product

Izal. Still made, i think. It was ''medicated'', so that kids under 10 couldn't catch s.t.ds .........

We had normal bog roll in primary school but the trace paper s**t was in my secondary school. I complained endlessly to my parents about how awful it was and they didn't believe me until I nicked a roll and took it home. They were appalled!. I went to school with my own nice tissue paper after that.

We had a thread about this a fair while back and apparently you can still buy the stuff, if you're a glutton for punishment. It was a good incentive to make sure you didn't need to poo in a public place.

ETA. Oops. This must be the thread. Didn't look at the dates.
