I'm done with You're Fired.

This used to be a very useful supplemental show. Now it is no more than a vehicle for not very funny comedians. Last week it descended in to chaos and this week it just seemed a lame excuse for people to say arse on the BBC like they were being daring.

How hilarious.

Utterly pathetic and now completely meaningless.

Do you think this show has lost it's way or is it better than ever?

personally i think its the best bit, i don't take the main show very seriously mind you, do you? (not tryng to be confrontational, jsut asking) I could see that if you aren't cynical about the business value of the main show the spin off show would rather undermine the main show.

I take it seriously in so much as I enjoy seeing the component parts of tasks and what each person has to contribute over all.

It's enjoyable to see people do a good designated job and also see the errors of judgement or execution that they make. These are not scripted (edited, granted).

You're Fired used to explore that a bit more.

Now, as I said, it's just a vehicle for lousy comedians with the business people (and the candidates) largely being sidelined.

last night did suffer rather from having two constestants on, that said it's the first time I've found sarah millican funny. each to their own i guess.

I like it but I guess I can understand why some don't. I think it comes down to what we watch the apprentice for. I like it as entertainment, I like it when they screw up and I can laugh at them.

If I was watching it as a person interested in business though then I would be very frustrated that the only time someone gets half decent air time is when they screw up and YF is more about who did something funny rather than who is doing well.

This is absolutely right, however ...................

I like it better than before but I only watch for light relief. Usually get so wound up as the person I think should have gone didn't ... so need to get wound down

I still enjoy it, best laugh I have all week.

They don't need a comedian on the panel . All a comedian is worried about is getting a laugh and wasting time, like that unfunny woman last night.

The comedy element comes from what happens on the show and Dara can ably deal with that.

I like Dara and think he is a genuinely witty guy.

I agree, although it should be on longer 45 min, or maybe an extended 45 min version at the Weekend like Have I Got News For You.

Having said that i switched over as soon as Kelvin McKenzie appered, can't stand him.

Yeah, I preferred Chiles.

And I've even been in the audience for one of Dara's You're Fired show.

I do like Dara, but YF used to be far more analytical of the main show and of the candidates and that's what's really missing from it now and that's why I rarely watch it. Still, if DS is a good representation of the wider audience, then the "laffs" are more popular so the current format of YF isn't not likely to change.

I'm assuming the BBC wisely took the decison that po faced analysis of something as silly as the apprentice was a bit of a waste of time

You're fred gets the best and most interesting guests of any 'reality' show. Just further proof for me that it's the best one!

It's still decent, but not half as good as when Chiles presented it. Dara isn't funny and is one of the main culprits of derailing into unfunny jokes.

But it wasn't po-faced: it was smart and witty, and Chiles was the perfect host for it.

I liked Dara at the beginning, but I'm a bit fed-up of his Mock the Week chums turning up every week. I actually would like more light-hearted analysis rather than what seems to be happening lately of "let's play this clip where the team did something stupid and lol appropriately at its lulziness".

Not normally a fan of hers, but she was great on it!

I don't think it was po faced at all. It was more focused on the applicants rather than the panel members and I think we used to see more of the unshown footage too.
I like YF, but I do agree with some FMs that it has gone down hill.

I like Dara but preferred Adrian for this particular show - much more incisive, and having a comedian on the panel every week worked better when there wasn't a comic in the presenting role, now it's like a comic-off, like a Friday night panel comedy.

Agree with this.

The thing is, it wasn't po-faced, there was a good balance between humour and analysis, IMO. Now it's gone too far down the comedy route. With the Adrian-helmed version, we'd get humour but Adrian would always get the heart of the matter too, and ask questions of the rejected candidate that everyone wanted answered.

Completely agree with you parthy. I wrote the following a couple of nights ago, but wasn't sure whether to post it, as I don't want to come across as 'dara-bashing', which I'm certainly not. It makes pretty much the same points as what you wrote, in a slightly different way!

I also preferred it with Adrian Chiles- he could crack a joke, but wasn't afraid to be serious too, to explore some of the feelings that the candidates had about their time on the show. I like Dara- he's quick-witted and funny, but sometimes it does feel a bit like 'Mock the Apprentice'. Almost everything is either a joke, or a set-up to a joke.

For that reason, I'd like to see an extended 45 minute version available, as others have mentioned, maybe with a ten minute section where Dara interviews the candidate more seriously, in a more one-to-one fashion. I don't doubt that he'd be good at this, and for me, it's interesting to find out more about the candidates beyond the daft gaffes that they made on the main show.

Anyway, that's just my thoughts. I like Dara, and it feels a bit weird to want a comedian to make less jokes, but there you go

I think you've hit the nail on the head with these observations.

I like Dara and still enjoy the programme but in a different way to the AC version.

I think it's essentially turned into a PR puff-piece for eliminated contestants to get us to go "oh well, they weren't really so bad after all". To be fair, it makes for a nicer atmosphere than the show had before, where sometimes it was a smarter show, but also a more venemous one, often to an absurd degree (ie, whenever Michelle Mone was on)
