From Bordan's "even you would understand it" comment last series to the contestants reactions and facial expression this year when she critiques them. I get the feeling that no one actually respects Karen Brady or what she has to say.

Also seeing as she took West Ham down, shouldn't she be fired?

Shes ok however she makes it too clear who she likes and doesn't like she seems to prefer male candidates.

She isn't that keen on some of the more ballsy females eg Natasha

She is 'in bed' with people who have made their money from pornography, so my respect is limited.

As I understood it she was at birmingham and now west ham in a business management role so I really don't see how the teams on field performance is her fault.

For what? Her claim to fame is becoming the first women to run a football club and the only reason she did that was because the owner (David Sullivan) wanted publicity. On hiring her as the chief exec of BCFC, Sullivan said "a young, female director would attract publicity to the club".

Now that would be a ratings-grabbing task - the teams must make and flog a porno.

She actively supported the exploitation of women in , probably, the most distasteful sort of money-grubbing business there is.
And she's still involved with its multi-millioonaire who made shed loads from it.
Little respect, I'm afraid.

Sorry but I disagree, women get paid far more in the porn industry than men, no female porn star is forced to do it and there are naked men in the movies too as well.

I don't get this idea that porn 'degrades' women,

There certainly is plenty of porn which degrades women, but I agree that porn isn't necessarily degrading to women just by being porn.

Well it depends what type of porn it is. In, don't know proper name is, underground porn?... underground porn? there is some proper nasty stuff that isn't consentual and usually done by women who have been kiddnapped and trafficed from one country to another. Some of that can't even be classed as sex, its abuse. If it's not done by the so-called legit named companies then there's a whole lot wrong there. And whoever thought that shoving a girls head down the toilet was classed as sex needs their head wringing! And there are some men who get as much money for porn as women (depending on what type of porn they do and who they work for). But those who don't work in the legal realms (by choice or not), totally different story.

underground porn?!

you don't know what it is but you know it exists?

I don't think it would even come under commercial pornography if someone films abuse and shares it with fellow sickos.

If someone films a murder and shares it on the internet it isn't considered an action movie/thriller.

I think most people knows it exists. I'm not talking about people like peadopiles who share their sick stuf over webcam privately to their ring, these other images videos go up online on everyday porn sites that you, I, and your children can watch at will without even realising it. Do you really think all the porn on the web is legal and consentual? You're really naiive if you think that. And if you think every women that does porn wants to do it, then you are also naiive too. You should read more about it, it's quite shocking really, especially those that don't have a choice in it.

The big so called legal companies produce the porn stars (with all the stupid names) where lots of DVDs are sold and people there can sometimes make proper money from the industry. But for some it's a very sorry and desperate business to be in. Porn produced in eastern is especially dodgy stuff. Japan is one of the worst places for porn too, especially as women are not equal there anyway.

Exploitation?
Most certainly.
Have a dekko at the backgrounds of the poor unfortunate girls who go into "adult entertainment".
Drugs, abusive childhoods, family breakdown, incompleted education and so forth figure quite prominently.
And - I don't believe I'm asking this question - would you be happy with your daughter being a porn star?
Next time anyone watches porn, perhaps it's sobering to be aware of its context.

I don't. In her role as LA's 'eyes and ears' I never see her doing anything more than either stating the obvious or giving reign to her own biases...which any idiot could do.

You do realise that you're defending a point that nobody has contested, don't you? The point under discussion is whether porn is necessarily degrading to women simply because it's porn.

In some cases this is true. In others it isn't. I'd also say that there are some rather large generalities in there. "Drugs"? Can you be more specific. 1 in 5 teenagers smoke marijuana, for instance. And more than half of teenagers come from broken homes.

Do you have a specific source from which you got your data?

You do realize, trollface, don't you, that if you had followed the Thread correctly, you would have seen that the point under discusion was exploitation, introduced by me in my post above, but changed to the word degradation by the poster who responded to my post.
Presumably, he was happy not to be too pedantic.
Sources?
Largely anecdotal, no doubt there are precise stats somewhere.
If you don't accept my pretty common sense assertions, that is, a high preponderance of broken and vunerable women in the porn industry, why not Google for them?
I just think it's a bit yukky for Karen Brady to be involved/ connected with this particular, exploitive money-making.

Or was making a different but adjacent point.

Ah, so anecdotes and "common sense". Not necessarily the best tools for determining the truth.
