Trouble is, her meetings with the Doctor are in reverse order. What we'll see now is really her introduction - the first time he learns who - and maby what - she is. If you step back and look at it from the Doctor's personal time line - which is effectively the same as ours - she can't be that bad because he is then - according to her, their diaries and other information - going to become very close to her. Unless she's been lying about them being close in his future, whatever she is or does, he likes her enought for her to later become a companion and/or lover.

I'd suggest that whatever she does that she feels guilty for - guilty enough to (mostly) sray in a prison tha she can walk out of anytime - is actually a sacrifice on her part - something that she hates having to do and regrets but was done for the right reason.

I do, however, think that there is something otherworldly about her. The reversed timelines and her memory remaining intact after Big Bang point towards her being something outside of our universe's laws.

From a practical point of view, she's a character that is supposedto exist in the Doctor's future - to know his future incarnations. For that to be possible - in terms of using the character in far-off episodes - the show's makers will need to be able to recast the part at somepoint. It's easy enough to have an alien species re-appear 50 years later - a Dalek or Davros is just an all-covering costume and makeup, for example, but the way they got around recasting "human" characters like the Doctor or Master was to have them regenerate. If River is going to be seen in - say - 10 years time - they may need to come up a similarly "alien" way of keeping the character whilst using a different actress.”

Yes I agree. She isnt evil. I think she made a mistake and she is in Stormcage by her own choice. Hence the reason she can pretty much waltz out whenever she wants.

I think she's going to take the rap for something someone else does - probably the Doctor.

anyone considerd she might be there as to not meet anyone untill its needed -

we assume its a prision but maybe its a kind of safe house, hiding away from the doctor and others and being protected) since when she leaves no one comes after who but is notified

looking forward to seeing the truth

I googled Stormcage containment facility. (shows how much off a geek I am.)

I somehow dont think she would stay there willingly.

Well I'm going with the obvious.. She's Amy's child...

"I am quite a screamer now theres a spoiler for you."

Babies tend to scream a lot...

It's going to be a big let down but it seems to be heading this way...

Congrats - your 1,000th post

In some quarters, "I'm quite the screamer" might be seen as a pointer to Captain Jack

No one else seems to mention that she looks nothing like either of them. I realise I'm gonna get "actors, how do you cast them?!?" flack but within the scope of the show she's very "un-Pond like". Though, having said that, we haven't seen Rory's parents.

Wonder when she becomes professor rather than doctor and if there is any relevance in that

We have too!

The Big Bang, the Wedding Breakfast: both of Rory's parents, the minister who declared Amy and Rory husband and wife and Amy's chief bridesmaid or maid of honour are played by supporting artists.
Amy's parents and Rory's best man are played by actors credited in the end credits.

That being said Amy looks nothing like her mum or father.

I didn't think that there was that much of a resemblence between Wilf Mott and Sylvia Noble in the looks department, but then the casting was done in different years before we knew they were related!

Caitling Blackwood, now there's brilliant casting, thanks to Karen Gillan thinking of her to play young Amelia!

And they were also in a forest in a ship in series 5 ~ could that be when Amy was taken? The episode was "flesh and stone" after all, and the clerics in that episode share the omega symbol logo with the soldiers in the episode 7 trailer.”

How have i only just noticed that!

Its obvious River will be Amy's daughter, which is disappointing.

I have to agree with the whole name of the baby and the fact that River shows up naked (babies born naked)

The thing is, there might be something more to her than that

If River does turn out to be Amy and Rory's daughter, then Alex has my admiration for not having given anything away in how she's acted alongside Matt, Karen and Arthur in her earlier (later from River's POV) in Series 5 and 6.

I think I'd be comfortable with a

Spoiler
River is Tardis, whose spirit is placed in Amy's child, who can withstand the negative effects associated with housing said spirit due to somehow inheriting Time Lord Regenerative Power

Before I start, I agree with you largely so if it comes across as me picking fault, I'm really not! It's just how I come across in type

He gave her his screwdriver to save her in Forest of the Dead so he must want her saved in the future for some reason (although timey-wimey stuff - he knew she was saved so he had to save her - is she a fixed point in time?). Plus she knew his name.

Doctor: 'There's only one reason I would ever tell anyone my name. There's only one time I could...'

Could this be:

Spoiler
Marriage? His child? His death?

This is what I was just coming in here to post really - I've just rewatched Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead and when she takes his place in the Chair of Doom (my name ) she says: "You and me, time and space."

I wondered whether (spoiler tags to be be absolutely careful)

Spoiler
Time referred to him (Time Lord) and Space referred to her in some way. I'm not sure how!

I'm sure all this has already been bandied around, but I was excited after watching those 2 episodes and no one in my house cares

For goodness sake, I must have made this post ten times. It doesn't matter who she is! It matters what she does!

Since so many people are determined to be disappointed if a single phrase description of River Song doesn't immediately explain everything, I might as well pitch in with what will disappoint me: if the only explanation we get is a single phrase.

But we're not going to get that! Series 6 is all about who she is and what she does. It doesn't matter if she is Amy's daughter.

Doesn't mean we're not allowed to express our disappointment.
Obviously you don't think so which is great for you, but for me and others, River being Amy's daughter just seems a little (for want of a better word) lame.
