If that were true, the Doctor wouldn't remember him either. Nah, given that River remembered enough of events to give Amy her blank diary, I would say she remembers Rory well enough.

agreed, he's a great character, these scenes have really fleshed him out as a character, taking him from a sly trader to someone who seems to be rather wise and knowledgeable.
I hope the Doctor gets to meet him, and that he doesn't die, as I'd like him to have a bigger part in a future story.

It's made quite clear the doctor can remember things erased by the cracks that others can't - he remembers the daleks while Amy cannot, and he remembers Rory when Amy cannot (picking up the ring, and I'm pretty sure but not certain that he appears to remember during vincent and the doctor).
