Changes to BBC HD channels on satellite on 6th June
If you have Freesat you may need to put your HD box or TV into standby for 30 seconds and then restart to continue to receive the two BBC HD channels. If the channels are still unavailable then carry out a 'freesat channel retune' or a 'first time installation'. Full instructions can be found in the manual for your box or TV. Further help with retuning can be found at www.freesat.co.uk or by calling their customer support team on 08450 990 990.

The BBC moving to DVB-S2. What does this mean for us Freesat viewers in terms of more HD, and what does this mean for C5?

Unbelieveable. The first S2 transponder on 2D! Funny symbol rate though. I am gobsmacked. What next? higher bitrates? BBC Two HD?

I currently can't access the link. If the above is true, wow never saw that coming quite so soon. Hopefully it means better pictures and they don't squander the bandwidth on adding more rubbish. Could this be related to the forthcoming Wimbledon in 3D. Suspect it must be.

When on 6 June will the switch be made? Don't want either to do it too early or too late.

Now managed to get the link. There's going to be some some problems for those using DVB-S kit for BBC-HD content. (understatement perhaps

Maybe a full resolution now perhaps? 1920 x 1080 still to much to ask for from the BBC?!

Should have gone with 8psk instead of qpsk, or it's still a waste
![]() Hopefully they wont add another service to the transponder & up the bitrate of the 3 channels, was a post in one of the sky threads saying the ITV channel on it had epg saying "3D test" Hoping for the best. |

There'll be some people with cheap DVB-S satellite tuners in their PC's that wont be too happy on the 6th.
Wonder when ITV will switch to S2? |

My eyes work yes.. I know this is the Freesat Forum, i was mealy making the point that the other ITV HD channels are carried on an S2 transponder. I'm not a sky lover if you think that btw...!

Deleting several channels in one go is just a question of ticking all the right boxes in the Edit Channel List menu - you don't have to delete them individually and it goes quite quickly - couple of minutes at the most. Worth while if you don't want to miss these 2 channels for one evening.

I wonder if they've tested the configuration on a 2D transponder at 4am one morning? ITV could be more efficient and put all their ITV1/stv/UTV HDs on one S2 transponder. That would allow more FTA ITV1s & ITV1+1s on 2D. |

The box crashes if you do select them too quickly so its a real pain and something that we shouldnt have to do, especially as the previous firmware didnt require it.

thats all the 6 licensed english regions plus room for STVHD, UTV HD, and a mystery extra channel? ![]() Maybe Channel5 has approached the BBC again asking for space for it's 5HD channel?? they might not want to miss out on the competition.. |
