Doesn't look like it to me.
Watch BBC1 HD (108) then flip to NHK World (209).
The difference is very noticeable.

Well a particularly frantic Top Gear sequence in the BBC HD Preview loop looked pretty good, dare I mention bit rate was peaking at 18Mb/s during that?

No change from 1440 horizontal, although probably only us projector users would ever really notice without getting the magnifying glass out, a Mb/s more would be much more significant.

ITV1 HD was still mooching around 6Mb/s so I guess their deal doesn't allow for any improvements.

That said the switch only happened this morning, I'm sure there will be much tweaking in the coming week.

Hi
I looked at the stream info and was showing 8 to 12 mb/s VBR
I have not looked at proper HD programmes yet as the TV is Hogged by her indoors.

I would not be entirely surprised to learn that these two things are related.

The dish fell after the 4th scan, before that, the signal was good on all..

That you could not find the channels on the earlier scans suggests that the signal was not good enough.

It found them fine, but then putting the box into standby, it forgot to retain them and on boot-up, would display the old transponder settings so then having to scan again.. But everytime, the signal was always very strong.

Had to manually retune my Foxsat HDR, but I do switch it off at the mains overnight.

Can't say I notice any improvement in picture quality on the BBC HD channels though.

I had to do a Freesat retune on my Foxsat HD, for use in Freesat mode. (Box gets switched off at mains overnight, so missed the 3:00am housekeeping).

As expected, had to input full new parameters to Foxsat HD for use in non-Freesat mode.

Sagem DTR94-250 (PVR) needed no retune or re-boot at all.

Chris.

Could the 1440 horizontal be a reason why subtitles are sometimes faulty especially when typed live?

ITV1HD (London) in 1440x1088 has no subtitles at all.
ITV1HD (Granada) and STVHD have the full width resolution and they do have TXT style subtitles, I just discovered!
(no DVB style subtitles though)

If that is the most constructive contribution you can make,
then it would appear that you are one very sad individual.

I would suggest that before you nitpick over things like spelling mistakes, you ensure that your own posts are perfect.
For example I'm is correct, but i'm is wrong!!

Was something meant to happen overnight? Today I noticed I had lost the two BBCHD channels, but a quick re-scan sorted that out. But while poking about I also noticed that our Foxsat HD (non pvr) is still on software version 28 with loader 7.22.

A manual search for updated software brought the usual response ie sod all.

That's because it's on the most upto date. The loader is an old one but if you don't use a USALS dish motor then it won't matter.

Why is it that that people feel the need to call someone out on a spelling mistake and think they are being constructive or funny on here?!! Its one of the lowest childish acts you can do on a forum and shows you to be rather sad and pathetic.. If thats all you can add to a discussion, then do one!

Anyway, onward!

Can anybody find out from the Beeb if they are going to change the SID's for the channels on 10847v.

To get the BBC HDs on my Panasonic TXL32D28, I had to do a rescan of 28.2 & 28.5 on other sats, , There must be an easy way, but using other single transponder brought them in,without pic or sound.

Full rescan of freesat also needed, I did expect better of the Panasonic .Having to dump 100s of channels.

Looks like I'm going to have to do a factory reset because nothing on channels 108/9 like the above poster said I would have expected more from Panasonic, as the reciever has always updated it's self Working ok now after setting it back to shipping condition

just thought I'd add my experience to the forum. Even though i'm away from home until weds I thought i'd get my girlfriend to check our freesat equipment:

my foxsat HDR was working fine with the BBC hd channels without any user internvention.

my 2009 panansonic tv (42v10b) needed a freesat retune.

I havent asked my gf to check the foxsat in the bedroom as its not an issue to be without HD for a few days.

hope all you early panny freesatters get it sorted

You could have held off on the factory re-set. It seems the "no signal" is also happening to Sky's Irish HD customers. The new settings are not being spotted by some STB's because the SID's are still the same as before the change so the change's are not being picked up. I'm going to hold off on the reset untill tomorrow - they might sort it out overnight. Pity the Pannys menus don't allow users to delete channels to allow a fresh scan of a transponder.

On 2008 models the 'other satellite' (non-freesat mode) does let you delete channels. Unfortunately performing a scan only retrieves the old parameters. As you say there is no option to delete the freesat mode channels at all...
