I thought the old fella who did all the different dances was fabulously original and funny in the auditions. It's a shame it's a ( pretty poor ) rip off of a guy called Judson Laipply's 'evolution of dance' routine which I stumbled across on You Tube a few weeks ago.

I can't believe the producers haven't picked up on it yet

I have you tube on the IPad and I can't work out how to link so you'll have to search his name manually. It's well worth it though the original is absolutely brilliant!

The Evolution of Dance is great. You say the producers haven't picked up on it - of course they have! The popularity of The Evolution of Dance is the reason he's there!!!

Evolution of Dance is class.
Don't think the guy tonight was really trying to compare to that. He was just trying to do different dances in an amusing manner.

I did originally think that, but his act is more the humour of a stuffy old guy doing campy funny dancing, rather than 'evolution of dance's' quick succession of different styles etc.

His routine was ever so similar and the judges were hailing him as being 'original' which wasn't quite the case.

Were it a holiday camp talent show I'd think it was fab but on a national tv show where there are some genuinely unique acts it seems a shame to put him through to the finals.

theyre similar acts but the whole point of Steves was that he looks like a boring clerk and then suddenly does this extravagant dance.

Evolution of dance was at least 5 years ago. Im sure its possible that someone else has come up with a similar idea by themselves.

All it is is a guy dancing different iconic dances to different pieces of music. Its not like its an involved and intricate magic trick

Are any acts really unique though?

Mexican Mayhem, maybe, with one dog watching the other do tricks but I'm pretty sure everything has been done before or with very little difference.

Wowser, someone's a bit jel hahahahaha!!!!

There really was no other way to describe the fact that I couldn't put a link to the other guy. Maybe I could have just said I didn't know how to because I'm a c*nt? although that would have been a lie.

Jealous of what, was the question I asked......

If you mean jealous of you having an ipad, then that is the reason that i think that everyone who has an ipad is a c*nt.

If I wanted an ipad , I would buy one, I have the money.

the only reason anyone has an ipad is to show off

So, he's in the final

I wonder if he becomes really successful will the original guy sue him? I would. Tonight's performance was slightly different but his audition was almost a direct copy.

It wasn't at all - tonight he used backing dancers and totally different songs and dances - The Evolution of Dance was just that, different dances through the ages, the original audition was similar but just a small selection.

The guy tonight was just different, he is totally normal, he isn't a motivational speaker - he has a chance to get seen by up to 15 million people on Saturday, if anything he has achieved that dream if that is what it is.

Ps. you cannot trademark a dance - especially ones that you did not create in the first place.

Exactly. If a dance act is not unique, because there has been similar dancing in the past, then is every singing act plagiaristic? And if Steven has never seen Evolution of dance, then is it still plagiarism?

Jai did a version of Katherine Jenkins' version of Evanescence's 'Bring Me To Life'. Is that plagiarism too?
