On-topic, we should remember that the Doctor knew about his death coming. So really, Amy and Rory could have told him at any point. Don't tell them though, they'll just feel silly.

Turn that around - the Doctor coming forward froman earlier time and dying without his "newer" self being affected.

That could be done - in DW terms - by saying that one of them existed outside of time - or that the Pandorica reboot created an effectively new Doctor (as it did with Rory who was actually dead when he was "taken" by the crack).

Even easier, you could ask what happened to the "dead" Doctor that disappeared from the museum steps in Big Bang - in 1969.

Welcome to the forums! There's nothing to suggest that the Doctor knew about his foreshadowed death before now, apart from knowing that something funny was up.

I'm not sure if that's classed as a spolier, but I thought I'd err on the side of caution. ”

i have thought this for the past week now....its just that line when they meet at the river he says "oh its you....ok im ready"

Here's something I've just thought of

Spoiler
what if the Doctor killed in TIA IS the real Doctor? If he re-generates before he reaches that age then the death on the beach would be null and void, surely? What if he gets River in the space suit to kill his future self to fool the silents, knowing all he has to do is re-generate before getting to 1100?

Was that about him or about Amy though? There are lots of moments looking back where he's testing her: 'Amelia Pond, my life in your hands', insisting on her reviving Rory in the pirate ep, etc. Maybe he didn't suspect something was up with him, but just with her (I expect I'm being too simple )

Admittedly he didn't seem shocked by her revelation in the last episode.

That's the problem. Kalon, I think, was proposing a solution.

Think of it this way. If you built a time machine tomorrow, and go back to yesterday to write a note and leave it for yourself, that note will be there today. If you wrote that note, you wrote it yesterday.

If thirty years from now you travel back in time to today, you're already out there today.

At every junction is an infinite number of choices you can make, but only one you will make. History is the tapestry of the choices we did make, and the choices we will make.

Thanks very much!

I'd better clarify - the Doctor who was killed (which is the Doctor I was referring to, sorry for the lack of clarity there) knew that he was about to die ("It's alright, I know why you're here"). Therefore, the established chain of events dictates that he must find out before then, but theoretically that could happen at any point - Amy, Rory, River or anyone else telling him wouldn't have changed it.

Although, I suppose, events could have changed if he'd known earlier. So never mind.

Nice way to start, isn't it - attempt to show up the TARDIS crew in my first post, and completely dismantle my own theory with a single sentence in my second. Start as you mean to go on...
