Superman Doomsday/Death of Superman

Hello there.

Can anyone enlighten me on which trade paperback collections I would need to get the Superman/Doomsday series complete?

I know there's the Collected Edition, Reign of Doomsday, Death of Superman, Return of Superman, World Without a Superman, Death/Return omnibus etc. I just don't know where I'd get the complete story and which would crossover with the same stuff.

Also, what's everyone's opinion of Superman: Red Son?

The Death and Return of Superman story was originally collected in three TPBs:

The Death of Superman
World Without a Superman
The Return of Superman

Doomsday first returned a limited series called Doomsday: Hunter/Prey, which dealt with Superman's fear that Doomsday had also come back to life.

As for Red Son, it's a great story with some wonderful moments and end with a very interesting idea

The Omnibus is said to have some fairly substantial cuts. Not sure about the trades, but StuB's suggestion seems like the safest one, if you don't want to track down the individual issues.

OK story, terrible Superman story.

Thanks so much for the help, I take it Rise of the Supermen is a separate follow-on series from the period where Superman was dead (Superboy, Man of Steel etc.)?

I assume you mean Reign of the Supermen? That one is covered in The Return of Superman TPB.

Red Son is excellent - it's possibly my favourite Mark Millar story - and as someone who isn't a huge Superman fan, it's my favourite Superman story.

Yep, the Reign of the Supermen stories are the best in the series. Plenty of fun and intrigue. I've got one of the 5,000 certified Death of Superman collectors editions. I thought it might end up being valuable but it isn't.
