There are many faults with the original blog as posted on the net, including glaring spelling mistakes. Surely any self respecting "executive" would spell check such a damning document before posting it online. And why chose a little known Polish website to post it on?”

Charlie Brooker summed up conspiracy theories well a few years ago:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisf...eptember11.usa

Quote:
“The glaring problem - and it's glaring in 6,000 watt neon, so vivid and intense you can see it from space with your eyes glued shut - is that with any 9/11 conspiracy theory you care to babble can be summed up in one word: paperwork.

Imagine the paperwork. Imagine the level of planning, recruitment, coordination, control, and unbelievable nerve required to pull off a conspiracy of that magnitude. Really picture it in detail. At the very least you're talking about hiring hundreds of civil servants cold-hearted enough to turn a blind eye to the murder of thousands of their fellow countrymen. If you were dealing with faultless, emotionless robots - maybe. But this almighty conspiracy was presumably hatched and executed by fallible humans. And if there's one thing we know about humans, it's that our inherent unreliability will always derail the simplest of schemes.

It's hard enough to successfully operate a video shop with a staff of three, for Christ's sake, let alone slaughter thousands and convince the world someone else was to blame.”

The Ronan/ Syco 'conspiracy' would involve a lot less people and would be far less complex.

Obviously, you've got Cowell and his inner circle. It's plausible that they have the skills, power and know-how to pull off some pretty nifty schemes - kind of like Magneto and his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.

But then you have to throw in:

- Ronan Parke's parents. Who seem like incredibly ordinary folk.
- Bryan Gunn. Legendary Norwich City goalkeeper, less than legendary Norwich City manager. But, quite knowledgeable on how the media and marketing works.
- Susan Gunn. Celebrated artist and wife of Bryan. Also media-savvy.
- Ronan Parke. A 12 year old boy with a decent pair of pipes and a Justin Bieber haircut.

Quite what the Gunn's would have to gain from this, I'm not sure.

But doesn't the conspiracy idea kind of fall apart when it entirely relies on a boy who was just 10 years old when this allegedly started?

That does not make a fix, it's not the same as an already signed artist being thrust onto the show to kickstart them or manipulating a win for a chosen contestant.”

Though interestingly, Ronan claimed yesterday he wasn't scouted but applied online just like everyone else. If that's the case, he must have attended an inital public audition, right?

Who gives a crap, no one take BGT seriously anyway, if they did they have more serious problems.

^^ Well said that poster.

I think part of the problem is that the GBP are fully aware that many (MANY) parts of the show are, well not exactly faked but shall we say "ecomomical with the actualité".

So while I would refer readers to the link Denise posted on page 1 of this thread (here it is again) which I think does represent the truth, the show itself is in many ways the author of its own inability to refute the allegations which IMO are almost certainly false.

Yes, I think the reason the show are issuing such terse denials is that there are numerous accusations in the email, at least some of which could be entirely plausible. It's certainly noticeable that Cowell and Syco have little to say about the claims of the show being scripted and manipulated, and not all it appears.

No, not "well said". Read the post a few posts up - it happens all the time. It doesn't just happen on Cowell shows either.

You can't claim a conspiracy theory for a common practice without looking a bit desperate IMO.

According to the Daily Star Angry Cheryl Cole fans might be to blame.

Well I think it was "well said" because Eurostar was making the point that the show misleads its viewers all the time. And I don't mean "mislead" in the way the "leaked letter" mentioned, but mislead in that the viewers are left with assumptions that are not necessarily true. And it's the willing suspension of disbelief for the whole programme itself that makes it so hard for Cowell's denials to be taken seriously.

For what it's worth (and I would have thought my link would have proved it enough) I don't believe the letter is real and I don't believe it's a conspiracy.

If Syco deny the letter, people say "they do protest too much". If they let it lie, people will say "there's no smoke without fire".

Obviously, the way things are presented on screen is nothing like how they actually happen. There's no need to be a conspiracy theorist when it's a simple fact. (Edited to add that such claims are not even new as this thread about X-factor from July 2005 proves!

Also Simon's insistence last night that "he hadn't met Ronan until the first time he appeared on the show" makes more questions than it answers.

After all, Simon only appeared in the judging panel for the semi-finals, which isn't the first time Ronan appeared on the show by a long shot.
