Bad 'who' letter in the Sun

I normally wouldn't bother starting a thread like this one but it seems someone feels as though he can speak on behalf of all of us by writing a letter to todays 'The Sun'

I hate it when people make sweeping statements that presumes we all agree with them. This is the gist of what was said:-

• Ste Moff is making a huge mistake in giving the Daleks a rest
• Last season was 'lack luster'
• This season is so confusing that even its own fans don't understand it
• BBC must get rid of Moffat and ask RTD very nicely to come back

I'm all for people having their own views but I really resent that third point down... I'll make my own mind up on whether I'm confused..

Anyone else read this and got similar thoughts?

There are some people who will always love RTD and hate Steven. Like some fans who stopped watching because David Tennant left.

I may not understand it all the way through but that doesnt mean I am going to stop watching. I love a good puzzle me.
Some people really think they can talk on our behalf which is pretty sad.

100% agree. One of the good things about Doctor Who is that there is so much variation in it's fanbase that it's nigh on impossible to make any sweeping statement. There will always be differences in opinions, which is makes it more interesting imo.

Personally, I couldn;t disagree more with the above points, but equally, I know that others might to varying degrees. Each to their own and all that, and if we all agreed with each other, this forum would proably be a pretty boring place, and we probaly wouldnt have so many crazy theories which are quite fun to read.

I saw it and laughed at the stupidity. The guy falsely claimed the Moff is retiring the Daleks and clearly isn't in touch with the fanbase. As far as I can tell fans were moaning far more about RTD than the Moff.

Here's the danger of Who gaining mainstream popularity; the spoilers and actor contract gossip that dominates the soaps, and now we can add an unwillingness to watch all but the most transparent, hand-holding TV by most audiences. .

We should all write to the Sun rebukeing this guys theories.

with the exception of the Pirates, this truncated series has been near perfect. Complex it may be, but we'll get all the info in the end and it will be so worth the wait. Even if we have to wait till September! I have every faith in the Moff.

Letter writing campaign GO!

I've found this season to be a little confusing but then I enjoy that it keeps me coming back & rewatching episodes for things I missed first time round.
I've come to like matt as the Doctor where before I wasn't to keen on Tennant being replaced.

I like the characters particularly the enigmatic Riversong (who I fancy something rotten as much as I fancy Alex Kingston, much to Mrs BB's irritation).

I am excited about tomorrows finale & look forward to it & the up coming new series.

Some people like to make sweeping statements, I liked RTD's stuff but I like Moffats vision more.

Everyone write to the sun about how great this season is.

Can I remind everyone that this IS The Sun!!
I have no doubt in my mind that Mr A D W Fan, of Bromwich (or wherever!) does not even exist.

It is quite usual for tabloids to print their own reporters views as the views of the masses. I have worked in PR for a number of public sector orgs and I can honestly say, after giving interviews, sound bites etc, that they print what they want anyway.

Even if the Fan did exist, the interview was more probably along the lines of:

Yeah, Doctor Who can be confusing sometimes, but the stories are good.

I preferred RTDs style personally and was a shame when he decided to move on.

I think its a shame that the Daleks have been given a rest for a while because I love them, but no doubt they will be back in the future.

I am enjoying this season better than last season.

Spin the above into negativity, its not difficult

The plots in Series 6 are not too complicated. Anyone with even an iota of intelligence can understand them provided they pay attention. Then again, would anyone with even an iota of intelligence be a Sun reader?

They wont publish anything positive. The Sun like to put a bad angle on most things.

I do agree that last season was lackluster, i was going to watch it again and realised i only liked one or 2 episodes. Especially when Season 4 for me was brilliant, loved every episode bar Moffats 2 parter (Dont hate moffat just think that story is terribly overrated).

And yes its a bit complicated but im sure it will get resolved, if not completely then its BS. I do really pray for a simple episode every now and again though which so much continuity it gets a bit overwhelming having to remember things and stuff. My favourite episode this season has been the pirate one because it was just so simple and everything was over in that one episode.

And i wouldnt mind RTD back, preferably just for one episode though because after reading The Writers Tale if he took it on again he would go insane. And he did write some great episodes another Turn Left, Midnight or Gridlock would be fantastic.

How do you know? Not everyone likes the same things.

After watching TBB again I only wished never to see it again.

In fact, both TBBs.

Luckily, I have loved series 6 so far.

Ive got the DVD's watched it a few times, i like it better than i did the first time but i just dont feel its as good as the rest of the series. Think its very dull could have easily been one episode.

But hey everyones got a different opinion. I mean i really liked the Unicorn and the Wasp episode, yet everyone seems to hate that.

Sorry, I don't understand. The whole series could be one episode? What bit isn't as good as the rest of the series?

I adore the Unicorn and the Wasp!

I never implied that they did! But there are so many great little moments that even if you don't like the episode overall, you will get enjoyment out of them. And lots of lovely understated character bits.

Just that episode i dont think it was 2 episode material. It seems very different from the rest of the series, most of the stuff in series 4 is quite action or suspense but in that episode i dont it was just very boring.

The whole donna dream bit didnt do it for me at all, and i dont i just didnt think it was a good episode.

I thought they were all decent episodes, i mean love and monsters was an all right bit of fun (still suprised they got in a blowjob joke at 7 oclock )

I was 11 when that first aired...went right over my head. Thought it was an odd thing to say but couldn't firgure out why. That said I also thought that they literally went out and danced in The Doctor dances.

Doctor Who is so dirty when watching back
