I'm planning on watching those eps this afternoon. Just baking some brownies and then I can go and try and get my head around them.

I have watched them twice before, still don't understand them, but I want to see if I can find any clues to River Song in them

FWIW I liked The Wasp and the Unicorn and Fear Her, and enjoyed the first half of Love and Monsters (basically until the monster turned up... )

No, there was a comment about how in the 51st centuray the human race goes out and "dances" or something to that effect. I thought they meant like the waltz or something.

Okay, now I understand where the confusion is coming from. When I said you should re-watch it, I was meaning Series 5. Sorry, I wasn't clear enough.

I just know I am facing an uphill task with liking this current series. I am more or less up to date although I did miss the original broadcast of the Almost People so I skimmed it on iplayer just to get to the "twist". So far, in my view the pinnacle of New Who has been series 4. Just thought it successfully played to every emotion I had coupled with what I thought was the good Doctor's best companion of any series including much of the classic episodes (except Peri and Turlough and the wonderful Sarah Jane perhaps) . I was worried about saying what I am going to say but what the hell, I just do not like the characters of Amy, Rory or that bloody River and I don't give a damn what happens to them. I do love Matt in the role though, just not his companions.

Generally, it's not a problem to have a negative opinion of characters, it's how you express that criticism that really counts.

I take it they all survive and carry on as his companions then?

But seriously speaking. I want to like them and they are all fine actors. I guess it is an intimacy issue. Always preferred just the Doctor and his companion and that's it. Instead we have a young twenty something married couple and a woman who until recently infuriatingly refused to offer anything substantial as to her identity and role in the doctors life. Yeah, yeah my opinion is based upon a complete lack of logic perhaps and I am prone to not being able to convey my exact thoughts, but its how I feel.

I LOVED last season - it made me fall in love with Doctor Who again instead of just watching it - I can honestly say that there wasn't an episode I didn't enjoy. This series is raising the bar even more. Love Matt Smith, love Karen Gillan, love Arthur Darvill, and love love love Steven Moffat

more like "trust the Sun as a branch of Murdoch' s multimedia empire to have a pop at one of the most popular programmes on the BBC"

incidentally can anyone name a popular programme produced by Sky that is sold worldwide?

apart from the Discworld films

Regarding the Big Bang ... Ohhh Granny what big teeth you have.

But i do love River's reaction to the Fez

River : "I have questions. But the first one is ( looking at the Doctor quizzingly ) what in the name of sanity are you wearing on your head?"

Doctor : ( All proud ) "Its a fez.I wear a fez now.Fezes are cool"
River shares a look with Amy, who grabs the hat as River aims and shoots.

Classic !!

Well, "The Simpsons" is the closest thing to that description, and that's been going steadily downhill sine the early 2000s.

I liked RTD, thought series 5 was awful, but this series is brilliant.

true, but I was trying to focus.on the UK bit of his empire and shows produced for the UK, rather than US ones.

Can't say I agree with the sentiment of that letter.

Dr Who is a show that moves on, and, whilst we might hanker after a beloved era from the past, you have to remember that, had that era continued, we'd probably be bored of it by now.

Personally, I'm more than pleased with season 6 so far. I didn't think it started too strongly, but, since then, we've had a cast-iron classic in the shape of 'The Doctor's Wife', an enjoyable cloning two-parter. Hell, I even quite liked the pirate one.

And, based on last week's installment, Moff proves himself just as capable as RTD was in crafting a Bad Wolf/Utopia/Stolen Earth-style adrenaline-boosting cliffhanger, which helps make the show so genuinely exciting!

It's all good stuff and well on the way to beating RTD's fourth year as (IMHO) the best series to date. Another episode or two to the callibre of 'The Doctor's Wife' and it's there.

Regards,

Cypher

there has been so little subtlety on here lately, that just passed me by

bet Murdoch just wished he had a programme half as unsuccessful and confusing as DW

If he owned DW, one is supicious that he would insert more comedic elements. Murray Gold would be replaced by a laugh track, the Daleks would appear in every episode, Matt Smith would be replaced in the first episode by some American model-bloke who can't act, and the main setting would be New York.

Funnily enough I thought series 5 was the best contender for replacing series 4 as the best yet (it didn't in my view eventually). I do not (I am sure I will though) feel the same about this series as before. I would never have dreamed of missing an episode of earlier series and would have put it on for record. Now I just shrug and say i'll catch it on iplayer.

I hate it when people make sweeping statements that presumes we all agree with them. This is the gist of what was said:-

• Ste Moff is making a huge mistake in giving the Daleks a rest
• Last season was 'lack luster'
• This season is so confusing that even its own fans don't understand it
• BBC must get rid of Moffat and ask RTD very nicely to come back

I'm all for people having their own views but I really resent that third point down... I'll make my own mind up on whether I'm confused..

Anyone else read this and got similar thoughts?”

stcoop got his letter published ?
