I got the impression that with Lorna Bliss (Britney) being rushed into the semi finals so out of blue, and with no real explanation, that she was replacing someone at short notice.

I know that in previous years acts have dropped out before the semis, so is that what happened with Britney? Or was she going to be in the semis all along?

Semis all along. Some people pointed out at the weekend that out of all the semi-finalists they showed, it totalled one less than they claimed was in the semis. Or something.

Rumours suggest it's Highway Men because they had to drop out of the competition.

I know of an Irish dance group who were told they had made the Live Semi Finals and then were backtracked upon and quietly told they would not be making the live shows after all.
