He denied 2 things only, that he had personally met Ronan before his entry to BGT, and that Ronan has a record contract already. There were worse things in the original posting that he didn't deny. Why did he not just say nothing about it was true

It completely depends on if the person who has written it is exposed. If they're exposed and worked for Syco then something isn't as it seems, if its just someone writing it for a laugh and it got picked up then its a non story.

tbh I picked up on that too but it may just be there wasn't time for a full rebuttal on the show.

Weren't his exact words "I never met Ronan until he first turned up for his audition"? Weren't the judges in London Amanda, Michael and Louis Walsh? So is Simon indirectly saying he was at the London auditions but not on the judging panel?

Nope I believe the leak report thingy stated Ronan was at auditions 2 years ago.

Yes, and also the 'smearer' wasn't trying to smear Ronan, he was trying to smear Cowell. Cowell has successfully made this person seem evil by trying to make it look like he is attacking a 12 year old boy. Very clever!
I doubt the whole thing was true, but Simon can't claim that he doesn't pre-select certain acts, and put them through to the final stages without them having to go through the whole audition process. There is a lot of evidence from various people about this.

I doubt he - or Syco do.
This is what makes me doubt the original claims.
The show is made by both Syco and Talkback Thames/Freemantle, Syco only has a handlful of employees - about 15 - and that's spread out across the world. They're a VERY small company.
I'm not sure how it works on BGT, but on XF all of the researchers who go out and scout for acts to audition, browse YouTube etc actually work for TBT, not Syco.
Anyone who really worked for Sony would realise this

Interesting point : wasn't Simon supposed to be busy in LA at the time?
He said when he first met Ronan it was "the first time he appeared on this show", which is very vague.

The only people making a big deal about this kid's sexuality are Cowell and Syco. Very cynical deflection tactics and disgraceful exploitation of this youngster to their own ends.
The 28p posters may be out in force but most people will realise there is no smoke without fire.

No....Ronans first audition was 2 years ago.
Simon just answered in a way that would make people think it was THIS YEARS audition.
Simon probably engineered the whole thing just for publicity. No such thing as bad publicity, they say, and as long as everyone's talking about him, he won't care what's said, I should think. Or am I too cynical?
