Foods that your mum makes which are legendary
Everyone has one even people whose mum's are crap cooks, like mine!
Nothing beats my mums tuna pasta bake, it's sublime! She makes a really lovely thick herby tomatoey sauce, fresh tuna and pasta, and the way she does the cheese and crushed crisps on top for a yummy baked top is sublime. Haven't had it in two years unfortunatly though. |

My mum makes really great chicken, rice and potatoes. Oh and a delicious turkey. She wasn't too big on trying new recipes though, but at least it was homemade.

Chocolate Floating Island
![]() It's basically a chocolate sponge with a thick chocolatey sauce surrounding it (it cooks in the sauce, so it literally floats) |

My mum makes a superb Banana Cream Pie which is the only desert I really like. Her Jerk Chicken and rice and peas is fantastic too.

My mum came up with some strange dishes that I haven't seen anywhere else.
I'm sure she came up with crushed potatoes (or lumpy mash) before they were trendy. She had a dish called a "Gypsy Fry" which was like Bubble & Squeak but with everything from the leftover Sunday dinner into the frying pan. Kind of like Hash. A continuation of that was adding gravy and making "Dinner Soup" |

My mum does a mean line in French cuisine; she's like a female Keith Floyd (yes, glass of wine included
![]() She does a great coq au vin, boeuf bourginon, and also an amazing red pepper and goats cheese soup. She's quite an experimental cook and even does her own curries. (yes, I know that's not French) I'll never be able to match her standards.

My mum could be exceptional - but she is VERY lazy, so cuts corners where she doesn't need to.
However, her omelettes, should she deign to make you one, are like nothing else on earth. Perfection. |

My Mum's rice pudding is simply epic. She also makes the best apple pie I've ever had anywhere.

My mum makes an amazing risotto that has frankfurters and loads of onions, mushrooms and peppers in it. Whenever I have it, it takes me right back to my childhood. Wonderful stuff.

Fantastic sherry trifle. When we were small she used to do wonderful steamed sponge puddings, but now has the idea that they are unhealthy so doesn't make them anymore.

My mother makes delicious soup and in winter when money was tight, that was our tea. But she poured it over mashed potatoes to make it more filling. Being Irish we love our poundies and that will always be a meal I remember fondly. |
