Foxsat Media File Server problem

Hi All

I really need some help

I have been using Raydon's AV2HDR to send my home movies to the Foxsat wirelessly. It has been extremely successful to date, but for some reason I can no longer pick the Foxsat up under "my networks" it's just not there. I have rebooted the HDR to no avail.

One thing that I have done recently is downloaded the Foxsat OTA software update. I can not say categorically whether it was OK before this update.

Does anybody have any ideas how I would correct this problem, please.

Any help will be really appreciated - thanks

The OTA 1.00.15 will have overwritten Raydon's firmware, just reflash with his .hdf file.

Savvy, Many thanks, but....

Would you be good enough to explain how to "flash" the .hdf file

I,m not much of a computer brain

Thanks again

What you did when you originally installed Raydon's Media & File Server Bundle. Open up the RAR containing all the files, you'll see his FOXSAT-HDR_upgrade.hdf file, this is the one you need. Also, you'll see a Readme file, which contains the instructions for installing it.

You shouldn't need to install all the other components, the upgrade should have left them untouched, you just need the .hdf re-installed to re-enable them all. However, a few people upgrading from old versions of raydon's software have had to uninstall and re-install telnet & tinyftp (again using the instructions in the Readme),

Thanks Les

That has sorted it out for me. Just the.hdf file was sufficient.

Yes you can.

Presumably you mapped the drive in windows explorer using a Drive letter like Y: and pointing it to \\FOXSAT-HDR\Video.

As long as you have got the version of Raydon's bundle that has the [USB] section in the smb.conf file, then you would Map to it the same as above, choose a different Drive letter, and point to it using \\FOXSAT-HDR\USB

I think I may be missing something basic. I tried to map the usb drive using Windows Explorer, but I only see the Foxsat HDR, the usb drive is not there.

You mention Raydon's bundle, how do I check that I have the right one? As I said before, I am able to transfer files via AV2HD directly to the usb drive so I don't understand why I cant see it.

Thanks in anticipation

Did you install samba? If not do it.

What I did is get Raydons latest pack. Then put all the uninstall files on USB and reinstalled the lot. That way everything is updated and I'm missing nothing.

I couldn't understand why my Foxsat HDR had suddenly disappeared from my Sony PS3 XMB, until I read this.

Thing is, I never opted for the OTA upgrade - it must have done it automatically, even though I'd already got 1.15.

What's to stop the OTA over writing the custom firware again in the future? I can't see an option to disable OTA updates.

The suggested trick is to set a daily repeat Watch timer overnight that spans the 3am update time. Not sure if this works though.

This has other consequences:
- No channel changes.
- No Thumbnails.
- Other nightly tasks not done.

Hello All.

Does anybody have any ideas please.

I have been sending my films to the Humax HDR without problems via Raydon's Media software. Suddenly today the software cannot find the Humax. I have checked everything SFAIK and reflashed the .HDF file. The strange thing is Filezilla cannot see it either. Stranger still, I can read from it on the PC ie watch programmes that have been recorded.

I have rebooted the HDR and the PC, but nothing changes.

Thanks for you anticipated help
