Tethering
I have an LG Optimus One P500, and I can 'tether' meaning that I can use my phone as a wireless router for my laptop so I can use the internet when I am away from home.
It lets you view full sites not just the mobile versions on your laptop too. I think it's really good bearing in mind mobile providers are trying to flog you a USB dongle with a monthly sub. My mobile contract gives me 2GB a month,. |

Really depends if your provider allows tethering. Many don't allow it, so doing it is voiding your contract.
That is changing however, as when mobile data is capped it shouldn't matter how you use it. I know I've read that some providers are looking at changing their terms. |

If you have Three's "The One Plan", you will have unlimited data ("All you can eat") and are allowed to tether your phone & use it as a modem.
Tethering on one of Three's other plans is prohibited unless you pay for it. http://ask3.three.co.uk/srvs/cgi-bin...ile:mobileUser |

Choose ‘Add Internet Max’ or ‘Add Internet & Email’ for a 2GB allowance I have a 2GB allowance as they gave me a retention plan - £5 a month for line rental, 600 texts, 75mins, 2GB data. |

I'm on Three One Plan and can tether as much as I want as part of my contract, no usage limits at all.

Although this may not last forever, as some reviewer managed to use 45GB worth of data in just two weeks on threes all you can eat data plan, with no extra cost/restrictions.

It was actually myself who did that test for CoolSmartPhone. I can assure everyone that Three did not do anything more for me than loan me a handset to use.
They did not know the SIM or number I was using as it was a One Plan SIM i took out in store and had yet to give many people the number and no one from the team at Three knew the number. The reason for that is to make sure no one thought I was getting any preference on service from Three.... it was not the case at all. I was just a normal customer on a normal One Plan SIM which anyone can go in and get and did the 45GB of use. |
