well hasselhoff had a big singing career in europe and was the lead actor of internationally successful shows like knight rider and baywatch
and i've already commented on michael mcintyre in another thread
he was brought in primarily for comic value and while I don't rate him as a improvisational comic I can understand WHY they thought he would bring something to the show

The Hoff has starred with a talking car, and bouncing boobs... and was big in Germany... yay for his fame!
Michael McIntyre is a poor stand-up comedian, who has somehow found considerable success from mumbling rubbish.
Cowell is famous for managing to persuade fools to part with their money. He is also famous for telling people how famous he is.
I don't think she is particularly out of place, she has acted a bit, and done a bit of stage stuff... what more do you want? Ruby Wax?

but the truth is that simon cowell and hassellhoff have noteworthy careers

I would rate her ahead of McIntyre and Hoff (current value), but what do I know?... I bow down to your badger knowledge.
She is probably the most qualified of all the current BGT judges.

She's a graduate of Mountview theatre school, she's stared in sit coms and serious TV dramas and acted in a couple of stage/musical productions ... one leading to an Olivier nomination
... so I'd say she was qualified to judge singing/dancing/variety acts
