For those that didnt catch the name she was the 'Silurian' warrior in tonights episode. I want to see her again, what a evocative mix it would be to see her battling all sorts of ner do wells in the swirling fogs of Victorian London. The mysteries of that age as superstition and the growing age of science clash being dealth with head on. Ah what a heady mix that would be. Madame Vastra we salute you

... and your maid ofc

Yep, ditch Torchwood (or let the US have it). I want a Madame Vastra/Jenny Victorian crimefighting spin-off and I want it now! Or, at least next Saturday at 6.45.

Silurians come from a small gene pool - presumably because one parent can lay thousands of eggs so you don't get so much variety. She would be almost identical to the two females we saw in Hungry Earth as they are genetically so closely related. I don't know if they would regard the word "sister" in the familial sense so much as the "We are all brothers" sense used by humans when talking about their ethnicity.

In fact, it was the same actress who played the two silurian females in Hungry Earth

All I can say about Madame Vastra is that she has single-handedly renewed my interest in reptiles

I loved her and the Maid.
Characters felt like we had known them for years.

I'd like to say I am enjoying both the tone and forward thinking in this thread. I'd be quite happy to watch more of Madame Vastra and her lady maid/sidekick, certainly worthy of a spinoff. Humans and Lizards are already getting it on in V. It's yukky in that series but I feel strangely drawn to the warmth between Madame V and lady maid/sidekick.

Plus one to the love for these two.

Though for a second in the control room I thought it was Fey.

Then my wife pointed out it was the maid, which was pretty cool too.

I'm going to get shot for mentioning this...

If they toned down the double entendres, there is the SJS replacement.

If they don't tone it down, something to show at 6pm on BBC2 weekday for older teens.

There, it's said, I'm off...

To be honest I'm surprised Victorian Torchwood hadn't hunted her down and mounted her head on a wall.

You never know with Captain Jack, and his knowledge of mounting, and his love of a challenge

A neat title for the spin-off

"Lesbian Lizard Lovers".

This made me laugh.

Now, I don't want anyone to get the idea that I've actually thought about this in any way whatsoever, but...

Don't Silurian's have a sting in their tongues? Wouldn't it be a bit inhibiting? Or does the danger make it more, er, interesting?

I don't know much about their physiology, but I'd hope she can control her venom output.

I loved them, I tohught they were great.

But let's not forget the Sontaran nurse (who's name escapes me). I thought he was inspired, too. I loved his "and one day we may meet in the field of batttle, where I will crush your puny human body for the glory of the Sontaran Empire!" I was never really a big fan of the Sontarans, but he converted me.

In fact, for a cast of totally unknown characters, I thought the Doc's little army were a great set of well-realised people, who I quickly came to like.

Same goes for Colonel "runaway" Manton and Madame Kovarian on the villains side. Well realised characters.
