But the Doctor had it again before he went off at the end of the episode. So nothing to suggest that it was Rory.
Although it seems a bit too obvious to be the Doctor's hand, it would tie in with the hidden messages on the BBC DW site. From memory, I'm sure the video (analysis lessons I think it was called) showed the Doctor explaining that (his?) time was running out.
