Best part of the whole thing

Okay I LOVED the entire programme thought it was fantastic but my favourite scene was when The Doctor finally realised WHO River is.
I mean the whole kissy noises and the smile on his face made my day.

I guess there isnt any clear indication but I have read a spoiler from an incredibly reliable source that kind of confirms it. I wont give it away because I know how some people feel about spoilers.

It didn't.

Previously (in her many visits) she has hinted that they had a relationship, there's knowing his name and all the picnics he took her on and so on. Just recently she snogged his face off in the Stormcage and told him it wasn't the first time. So he's sort of accepted that this is a fact and that at some point in his future they will be smochy with this person. Fact A.

Then the revelation of who she is is made, a completely seperate fact. Fact B.

When suddenly his brain throws up this past point and points out A+B. Ah...

Rory bringing melody to Amy in the hospital room. A little bit less affecting on second watch knowing it was a flesh baby, but still... bawling my little eyes out first time round.

I have to say that I honestly thought they were going to do a fake out.

What I mean is that I knew the doctor would find out who she was but we wouldn't if that makes any sense?

I like the way they preceded it with shots suggesting that River was in fact the Doctor, just to mess with the heads of people on the forums that had convinced themselves of that!

I'm ashamed to say I thought that

Sorry, I think I might have misunderstood the purpose of this thread (thought you were asking posters what their favourite bit was!), please disregard my earlier post - I certainly loved the moment you mentioned. What I felt was really joyous about it was the sense that the doctor was experiencing enormous amounts of relief as he now had an idea of how he could rescue melody.

Fear not, I did too. I stood open-mouthed, with only the thought, "Noooooo. They can't be serious....", on my mind. Until I realised what they were really getting at.

Sneaky.

There was a lot of sneaky dialogue in that episode, lots of red herrings, like Lorna, Jenny, that scene next to the crib, etc.

Can you not put it in spoilers?

My guess was that the symbols are some kind of family tree, that it shows the lineage of the Doctor, his parents, Melody/River, Amy, Rory, and a child of the Doctor and Melody/River, but then again that would be a massive spoiler for the Doctor, as it would be his future, so that would probably be against the rules.

But it would explain the look of joy in his eyes, the double realisation of who she is, and the awkward look when he turns to look at Melody/River's parents, as he realises he's been flirting with his friends daughter, etc.

Spoiler
River appears in Episode Thirteen, just after the events of Flesh and StoneRiver Song appears in camouflage gear, and Amy and her cross check their diaries. River says she’s just climbed out of the Byzantium, "you were so young, didn’t have a clue who I was", she says to Amy.

She asks Amy where she is in the timeline, and she says the Doctor is dead and that she’s sad. Not just because of that, because she killed Madame Kovarian. River says it’s fine, it was in an aborted time-line, so never happened. But it still happened for Amy, she remembers it.

Amy longs to see her Doctor again, but she can’t, he’s dead. River then says "Oh mother, he isn’t dead, don’t you want to know what he whispered in my ear?". Amy assumes it was his name. River says no it wasn’t his name. Amy says that the Doctor said he was about to whisper his name to River, but he clearly didn’t. He whispered something to stop the astronaut killing him.
River reminds Amy about rule number one. The Doctor lies. So do I, she says. River says her life is one giant spoiler. She’s had to keep it from Amy that she’s her daughter, and keep secret about the astronaut: she knew all along it was going to shoot the Doctor. So Amy pushes her to say what the Doctor whispered in her ear before he went off to America to get shot. River grins and says "that man, always thinking so far ahead".

The same poster goes on to tell us that River did do enough to earn that pardon in Flesh and Stone, and sees Amy after she is released from Stormcage. He also mentions that River is married to The Doctor.
”

I've seen that, much to my shameful lack of ability to stay away from spoilers, I'm not really sure that it explains what was written on the cot though?

I am very confident that The Moff will confirm it.
