I wanted to make pumpkin pie, but I couldn't find a pumpkin to roast. Next best thing: Sweet potato pie (cupcakes), with mascarpone cream. http://www.flickr.com/photos/1515916...1898/lightbox/

Never had pumpkin as a sweet before. I watched a recipe earlier for a creme brulee made with pumpkin puree. It looked pretty good.

Sainsburys taste the difference sundried tomatoes are flippen amazing. You should try them.

A nice snack is griddle some ciabatta with olive oil.

In a bowl mix chopped avacado, cherry tomatoes, chopped garlic and olive oil and salt. Place on top of griddled ciabatta then drizzel with balsamic glaze (most supermarkets do glaze) and crumble a small amount of feta.

Delish.
My sort of food

In the U.S. you can buy pumpkin puree in a tin, and this time of year the pies are pretty ubiquitous. I like it, but I like sweet potato even more. Pumpkin creme brulee sounds killer.

This is the recipe I saw. Probably the right time of year for it.

My first roast for quite a while (disappointing but gravy was good)

Yesterdays beef stroganoff with red cabbage and apple and fries. OH loved it, I was a bit indifferent.

Your roast looks pretty good to me! As does the rest of your food (maybe a bit heavy on the chips though ) Did you make the pastry yourself? It looks great

Thank you. No I didn't make the pastry but most TV chefs say use shop bought these days so who am I to argue? I did cook it seperately though and placed it on the 'filling' for serving.

Cheers! Funnily, I'm not keen on chips but I do like M&S frites and you get a lot in a pack. Only once in a while though!

I also make a dauphinoise quite often with potatoes and celeriac. Minus the pastry.
Celariac is a fanasticly versatile root veg and I love the flavour.

I haven't ever used it much but it was great in the dauphinoise so I will definitely be finding other recipes to use it in. I have to credit the Good Food magazine for the idea, they also add Bacon which I will try next time. Got to lay off the cream and such for a bit though, I've been seriously over indulging recently

Too much of a good thing, eh ?
You could replace good part of the cream with some stock.
Celeriac is great, mashed with potatoes. Or celariac soup, or just add a chomp to any other soup.
Grated, raw, with a dressing as a salad. Fondant of celariac....
You don't want me to go on ...and on...and on..., do ya ?

I agree - luckily there's an English shop fairly near me where I can get frozen Jus-Rol - Spanish pastry is rubbish - even my own is better

Yes indeed, I've got a Christmas party dress to get into and I definitely need to cut back a bit

Yummy, I'll be giving those try, thank you. To be honest, I could read food ideas and recipes all day, bet you'd get bored before I did lol!
