Erasure Appreciation Thread
kinda feels the right time to be having an Erasure love-fest, what with his PSTOS appearance, a new album and tour on the way.
So, favourite songs, albums, solo stuff? I'll start the ball rolling with this B-side from Chains of Love - Don't Suppose http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b20yrIXVzsU |

New album
Oh yeah ![]() I know that Wonderland and the Circus are being remastered and released this month too ![]() I am a fairly new Erasure fan, so still not completely clued up but I'd have to say my favourite song has to be Sometimes/Ship Of Fools or their cover of SOS, I adore their whole Abba-esque ep actually

Watched the Innocents tour last night - fantastic show!
My Aunt saw them live back in the day, said they were brilliant, I think it might have been that tour actually. Really want to see them live now! |

Album - The Innocents
Song - Drama! Their catalogue from 85-90 is just phenomenal. |

They were the poor mans Pet Shop Boys! But I still loved em!
Chorus is still one of the best synth pop albums ever. Loved I say I Say I Say too! Still have gr8 xmas memories of 'Crackers International'! (She wont be home...)

Giving away my age perhaps, they played my student union twice before they hit the big time. Went down a storm both times.
I didn't delve beyond their singles of which Oh L'Amour is probably my favourite. |

album wise, it's something like this for me -
1. Erasure 2. Chorus 3. I Say, I Say, I Say 4. Nightbird 5. The Innocents 6. Wild! 7. Light at the End of the World 8. Cowboy 9. The Circus 10. Wonderland 11. Loveboat 12. Other People's Songs I guess my favourite single would have to be Always. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSMeUPFjQHc |

Blue Savannah was a great single, though I've never had a clue what the lyrics are on about.

Liked Erasure since Sometimes was out. Got The Circus for Christmas '87, it's still my fav Erasure album. It spoke to me at a time of life that was confusing me.
Erasure went through an amazing period of making great singles and albums from The Circus to I Say, I Say, I Say, everyone a winner. Victim Of Love, It Doesn't Have To Be, Chains Of Love, A Little Respect, Stop!, Drama!, You Surround Me, Blue Savannah, Chorus, Love To Hate You, all the Abba songs, Run To The Sun and Always. Since I Say albums have been hit or miss for me, I've liked Union Street, Loveboat and loved Light at the End of the World. How My Eyes Adore You i can listen to that song all day. Really disappointed Erasure did not play Scotland this summer, i'm having to go to Yorkshire next Sat to see the show. They better turn up in Glasgow next year when the new album is out. O2 (old Carling) is fantastic for Erasure gigs. They are some of the best live shows i've been to. |

The dont get near enough recognition in the press.. Their catalogue is incredible really. My favourite album is Chorus, pure unadulterated pop perfection, probably followed by Wild and Wonderland, With Light At The End Of The World and The Innocents next.. Low Lights for me are Other Peoples Songs and the hideous I Love Saturday. That song was responsible for their chart position downturn imo. Quote:

I saw them at the Barrowlands a few years ago now, and was a brilliant show, they always know how to put on a cracking live show and please the fans. |

![]() My favourite Erasure song though is most probably Chains Of Love - it brings back lots of memories of youth. |

Virtually every Erasure single from 1985 to 1997 was a classic, (I Love Saturday and Heavenly Action, the only stinkers in my book).
Some of the album tracks remain personal favs though, Phantom Bride, Perfect Stranger, Piano Song, All Through The Years, Angel, Miracle, Home and Rock Me Gently. |

Currently listening to new track Save Me on YT. It's sounds quite moody, bluesy, a bit Depeche even. Looking forward to hearing the album version.

New Album Announced:
"Erasure's brand new studio album, set for release in the autumn, will be called 'Tomorrow's World'. The new album will be released in the Autumn and is produced by Frankmusik, as you know, and mixed by Rob Orton (Lady Gaga, Robbie Williams, Enrique Inglesias). 'Tomorrow's World' was recorded in Maine, London and Los Angeles between January and June, with Vince creating the sounds using his collection of vintage analogue synths." Cant wait! Im a big fan of Frankmusik, and I cant wait to hear what he, Vince and Andy have come up with |

Always, Fingers & Thumbs, Rock Me Gently, In My Arms, Don't Say Your Love.., Here I Go Impossible Again and Sunday Girl are equally as good as their earlier output, if not better. |

LOL, just checked out their website but that promo photo is just

A lot of the reviews for Pop2 were quite negative, which I never quite understood. Whilst it might not be wall to wall hits like the original Pop!, there are still some mighty fine tracks on there. I think the fact that some of these didn't exactly set the charts on fire kinda tarnished peoples view of the quality of the work.

Yes there are some good tracks but the first Pop, with all the early hits, is stronger. Always is a great track though.
Have you got any of their albums? I definitely recommend The Innocents, Chorus, I Say, Erasure and Nightbird for starters. |
