So many questions...

Hi, my first post and I hope it's be a good one.

Have been viewing these forums since the start of the current series but never wanted to post anything until now. A Good Man Goes To War. Not sure if it's the best Doctor Who episode I've ever seen but it was an important one purely because of the River Song revelation.

The reason for this post is just because we are still left with so many questions. Not a bad thing at all but I want to know the answers lol. I've got far too many to list here so I'll just stick with the first 5 that pop into my head and hope someone can help answer them.

1. Who is the little girl? Pretty much everyone seems to think it's River (and it was implied in the last episode with the flashbacks) but surely if River is the little girl then she would remember being stuck in a spacesuit when she was younger? and if she is River then why is she randomly in 1960s America and not at home with Amy & Rory. All the signs point to her being an orphan but then how is she a timelord?

2. Who is Madame Kovarian and why does she want to kill the doctor? Most of the enemies he faces have their own goal (E.G Daleks want to kill everything, House wanted to eat Tardises etc.) and the Doctor turns up to stop them which is why they want him dead but her only goal seems to be to kill the Doctor. What exactly has he done?

3. What were the Cybermen doing there in that episode? They seemingly knew where Amy was being held which is why Rory was there but how did they even know that? There weren't there at Demon's Run. Were they literally just in the episode so that the Doctor could blow lots of them up? Seems a bit pointless?

4. Who was in the spacesuit when it killed the Doctor? Was it the little girl? River? The doctor himself? Amy? Some randomer we've not met yet? And why did they want to kill him in the first place? And why did the Doctor go there and invite the 4 of them when he knew that he was going to his death? (I admit there are a lot of questions in this question!)

5. Who is the "greatest man I ever knew" that River killed and will we find out anytime soon!!!!!? As a jokey side note to this how can she keep escaping from prison so easily!? She just comes and goes as she bloody pleases lol!

1. Who is the little girl? - all clues point to it being River it seems
2. Who is Madame Kovarian and why does she want to kill the doctor? - i think that she is another one travelling in the opposite direction to the Doctor, along with Lorna. He is probably going to do something that gives him the 'warrior' title in the future

3. What were the Cybermen doing there in that episode?- I think Rory said something about them having some surveillance system (or some such) so they would know where Amy was.

4. Who was in the spacesuit when it killed the Doctor? - I think we have to wait and see

5. Who is the "greatest man I ever knew" that River killed and will we find out anytime soon!!!!!? - could be the doctor or Rory? Maybe we won't find out for a while, maybe it will be a future(past) version of River that does it

No one knows the answers except Moffat. Like the rest of us you will have to wait and see.

Except for the Cyberman thing....they were monitoring the Quadrant where Amy was being held, so would know where she was.

Their stations/ships etc were blown up to encourage them to answer Rory's question.

We don't really know the answers to most of these yet, but I'll give it a go

Spoiler
1. We already know the silence were involved with those events and seemed to be using the girl, so it is possible that they made her forget? As for being in 1960s, I don't really know but assume it is part of a bigger plan against the doctor?

2. Kovarian mentions that the war between her and the doctor has been going on for a long time, can't quite remember the exact quote, so implies she is quite important. It may be that she is simply working for an even stronger force.

3. From what I understand, the cybermen that Rory spoke to were monitoring the area of space so they may have heard rumours about Demon's Run. I'm not sure whether the cybermen did help with the ambush or not, but they might not be in a position to after the doctor blew up most of their fleet

4. We don't know for sure but if I remember rightly, the little girl escaped from the suit in 1969 so it seems odd that she'd get back in it for the present day. The doctor has a lot of enemies who'd want him dead so any of them could be a suspect. However, it might be that the doctor sacrificed himself for some reason?

5. Lots of people think the good man will be Rory or the doctor. It might be someone completely different though and moffat's been throwing us off the scent. Even though escaping from prison is funny, it makes you wonder whether the man she kills is so powerful that the guards are a little scared of her?

Spoilered just in case Hope that helps a bit!

Definitely helps, thank you. Love your name by the way, I can just imagine an episode where gangers have gangers who run amok and then want to kill their original gangers while the humans just watch in amazement lol!

1. I can completely believe that the little girl would be River in every way with the whole regeneration thing but I just think River would have seen the events of DotM and been like "Oh I remember this, I broke out of this suit". Unless she did know and just didn't say anything. Hmm.

2. I must've missed when Kovarian said that the war had been going on for a long time. I get that she's just the next big enemy, fair enough but why are they all trying to kill the Doctor? What has he done recently that is so bad that this supposed cleric army wants him dead? All he does is travel

3. That clears up the cybermen involvement, thanks. The only question left there then is why were they the race chosen for that job? The cybermen are so big in terms of the Doctor's enemies that they deserve a proper 2 part storyline around them, not just a rubbish cameo at the start of 1 episode!

4. It's very unlikely to be Amy or Rory for obvious reasons but I just don't get why the Doctor went there knowing he was gonna die, unless as you say it was because he was sacrificing himself? Who knows. Such a big part of the plot though, I seriously hope the ganger doctor theories aren't right because that would be crap and plus a ganger doctor would've surely melted when he died? He's obviously gonna do something to stop himself dying but who knows what, the bigger question is who is in the suit. If it is River then why would she want to kill the man she loves?

5. It really needs to be the Doctor or Rory because they are the only 2 people that could be River's "the greatest man I ever knew". Anyone else would be a bit rubbish but if it is one of those 2 then why on Earth would she kill him?

Regarding the cybermen, it is interesting how they are such a huge force again. Also they haven't been chosen to monitor the quadrant they just happen to be stationed there so will have been monitoring it as a matter of course.

Also theirs a rumour going around that...
Spoiler
The cybermen are returning in the second half of the series.

6. When did Amy come into contact with the flesh and become a ganger, was it off screen, between episodes or part of the TIA?

I think the idea is that someone (Kovarian?) replaced real Amy with ganger Amy at some point. I'm sure I heard that it was confirmed that the replacement happened before the event of this series but don't know exactly when.

The Doc suggests that it may have been before America....so that's between series.

Maybe something happened between "A Christmas Carol" and "The Impossible Astronaut" that we don't know about, especially since the Doc says Melody was concieved on the TARDIS.
