Orange Data Charges Help
I'm now able to upgrade my phone and currently pay £10.00 per month (should be £15.00 but they knocked £5.00 per month off) and get 100 minutes plus an extra bonus 100 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet.
Because I pay so little I'm aware the choice of free, or cheap, phones are limited to me and I cannot afford expensive phones. The two I'm looking at are the HTC Wildfire S and Samsung Galaxy Ace, currently leaning towards the Ace. When I rang to speak to Orange they told me they cannot offer me an upgrade on the same rate. It will go back to the £15.00 it should be and I will lose the extra 100 minutes and unlimited internet. I'm not too bothered about losing the minutes as most of my friends and family are on Orange and they are my magic numbers. Orange said they could offer me a 10% discount on my line rental bringing it down to £12.50 but want £5.00 per month extra for the unlimited internet. I connect via wifi at home and during the day, when I'm away from home, probably check websites like facebook, BBC, DS a couple of times and not for very long. Maybe a few to five minutes at a time. I'm not sure if it's worth paying the extra £5.00 per month for this usage? Any help or advice on data downloading and costs would be much appreciated as I'm a bit unsure!! Thanks

Thanks ![]() Sounds like you would use no more that 4MB per day or so. Over the month thats 120MB. Unlimited internet these days means 500MB, so you have a large buffer there if you needed it! According to Orange, they charge 61.3p per day if you use the internet out and about and you dont have their unlimited package. So if by bad luck you use a little mobile internet every day thats over £18 they could prospectively charge you!? http://www2.orange.co.uk/servlet/Sat...=1137070320205 What you could try though is an App like APN Android which is meant to turn off all your 3G, HSDPA connections so you would not access mobile internet out and about, but I have never used so cannot vouch for it. https://market.android.com/details?i....code.apndroid So it boils down to: 1. Fork out the fiver and relax 2. Save a fiver and keep a watch on your mobile usage @ 61p per day. |

Thanks ![]() Unlock it for free and switch to a SIM from GiffGaff. About £100 for the phone. £10 per month from GiffGaff gives you: 250 UK minutes, unlimited UK texts, unlimited data, free GiffGaff to GiffGaff calls. |
