Hmm, I think I understood that. Sort of. Games of that sort have never really appealed to me so I don't really know anything about them. Give me an old fashioned Cluedo or Monopoly board and I'm happy.

You can get both of those in digital form now, too...

What is the point of a digital board game? All you end up with is a board game you have to have power for. As opposed to one you can just set up and play.

the point being that with a standard board game you can play with family members, with a Digital (Video Game)version you can play with a mate from Australia or america and the like

It's all animated, and stuff...

I think it was a keen marketing ploy - the equivalent kids that would have played those games years ago are now plugged in 24/7 to a console/laptop/handheld/phone, so to get to them, they've had to adapt. The digital versions are an added extra for them - thankfully, they have continued to produce the physical board games, too!

You still can with physical games - correspondence games still go on, especially in chess!

I think that's part of the charm of correspondence games... But I know I'd be in the minority with that!

Society is much more: I want it, and I want it RIGHT NOW!

*sigh*

i agree, that the digital age has made us more impatient, but i would take that for the fact its brought the world closer together and that can only be classed as a good thing

Try reading the comments on a typical youtube video and see if you can say that again with conviction...

I agree it has certainly made the world a closer village, and more argumentative because people can say for certain something is right. probably because they heard it down the pub some of the time. I like that i can converse with fans from all over the place, without having to attend those massively overpriced conventions.
