I promised myself I wouldn't make one of these, but here's how I see the story playing out:

I think the key here is that we don't know the purpose to which Melody has been kidnapped. Kovarian and her kind are engaged in some sort of war, but it doesn't appear that the Doctor is the target - just an obstacle that needs to be overcome in order to take the baby to create a weapon.

What occurs to me is that if Kovarian's enemies know that Melody was conceived on Amy and Rory's wedding night, then what better way to gain the upper hand in the war by attempting to blow up the vehicle in which the deed took place? Perhaps the collapse of the universe was simply an unexpected side effect.

If the Silence were the ones that engineered the detonation of the TARDIS on the wedding day, perhaps that's a result of Melody being taken to be turned into a weapon against them.

Basically, this whole war could have started as a result of the hypnotic command the Doctor placed at the start of the series - so that humans, all down time, would be compelled to kill the Silence wherever they saw them.

I've just rewatched the first two episodes of Series 6 and although we don't know for certain it appears that the Silence are looking after Melody.

They also say something along the lines of "we honour you Amy Pond" when she is their captive. Which in retrospect to me means they honour her as the mother of Melody.

Melody is referred to as a weapon but I don't think she's a weapon to be used against the Silence.

Totally agree with the above statement.

If the Silence are engineered so that you forget them when you stop looking at them, then they are actually pretty good baby-sitters and protectors for Melody.

The only thing that convinced me that they were a threat was the line they used on Canton about you should kill them upon sight. In my opinion, that suggested that they were an enemy rather than a friend. Well, that and the scene of them killing Joy in the ladies toilets.

That's what makes me think that Melody is a weapon that the two sides are fighting over.

Like, say, the atomic bomb. If someone were to say, Kill Hitler, then the bomb wouldn't have been developed. If that couldn't be done, then steal the prototype. And so on.

Not a phrase to be used out of context!


I assumed the Silents were the initial kidnappers. After all they had Amy for 4 days she doesn't remember. I guess maybe they were both the Amy kidnappers and the babysitters?

But the Doctor stated that Amy was replaced by the Ganger "before America" meaning that the Silence stole ganger Amy and not the Baby.

But if the child in the suit is also Melody then some time after Kovarian left Demon's Run with the baby someone gave it to the Silence (or they stole it from her).

So either she gave it to them or The Doctor/Amy did...in which case he owes them an apology.

Am I the only one who suspects that the Silence did naff all to Amy when they captured her? What if they just kidnapped her because she's in the way, and it took the Doctor ages to come get her because he's rubbish?

I got the impression that the Doc is the target , that kovorian et al see him as some sort of evil that needs eradicating .
