Having watched the eposde on saturday it kinda spured me to watch all the ones with River in from the begining. i have a question type theory.

ok.. here goes nothing...feel free to grab some popcorn i could be a while haha..

so we all know that at the end of SITL River dies, but the doctor runs back and whacks her in the computer hard drive with the last bit of energy from the ghosting green light thingy.. and she says that man is impossible can never leave anything alone or something to that effect. well my question/theory is this.... River is part time lord and her conscious was still about due to the doctor being able to whack her in CAL hard drive (the computer in SITL) so if thats the case couldnt he somehow get her out and then as there is some part of her left she could regenerate.. remember that the second Dr who moved to be with Rose regenerated from a hand.. does it have to be something physical or would a conscious do lol.

While we are on the subject i think it could of possibly been her that killed the Dr on the beach as she said of course.. i think it has to do with some timey wimey alien in his body type thing. this cant be the very last series and i dont think they could end it with him dying cos i would cry lots..

I think this should be put to rest, there's no need to tinker with the end of River's story. But since it's your first post, I'll let you off instead of scare you away!

If The Doctor pulled her consciousness out of CAL - that would be it, game over. He only had a few seconds left before she faded entirely.

Just remember, it was only a ghost image, not her actual mind/soul in there. So sadly, River is dead and there's no way back from that...

sorry if was long debated, i have only just joined and read the recent posts... i was just thinking maybe she could be brought back as the whole story is really sad.. but maybe thats the aim.. thank you for letting me off lol

its wierd because weve seen her death then gotton to know her

I think if she had died after a 3 year stint on doctor who, her death would have been more epic

its because its her death was low key and relatively insignificant to us at the time, then weve gotton to know her that we want to go back and change it

Surely there's no need to bring River back now.

If she is Amy and Rory's timelord baby and she sacrificed herself at the end of the Silence in the Library, that was just at the end of one of her regenerations.

Once Alex Kingston wants to move on as River Song the Doctor can meet a new character who at the end of the episode regenerates into Alex Kingston and hey presto a whole new set of adventures played backwards.

I'm of the opinion that there is more than one River Song out there. In fact, I believe that somehow there are versions of River from different realities perhaps all converging in one reality.

That would be a huge twist if we are led to believe that she is a ganger only to find out that she is real, and she is real, and she is real etc. The only difference between them is that they all belong in different realities/timelines.

I was half expecting on Saturday for multiple copies of River to appear at the very end. That would have been a huge twist and a game changer.

It's definitely possible. The only thing that has me doubting it is that it seems that was the doctor and he is dead but river also said in SITL that their time lines cannot be changed, so how would they bring the doctor back? Maybe she said "of course" because it was Amy? maybe for timey-wimey reasons she can't kill her mother either

As an aside i havn't seen SITL for a long time and i think it might be one of the saddest episodes i ever watch when i go back and watch it after all of this!

It is sad, but he still manages to save her of sorts at the end. which is some comfort, although leading up to her death is pretty sad

i know river said that the time lines cant be changed, but the Dr who has reset time. and i know Mr M said he would mess with Rivers Death but i sooo wish he would. as a previous person said on this thread i think its cos we have gotten to know her now. but i think thats what actually makes there story better..knowing her ending is his beginning.

are you able to kill yourself in a timey wimey way? he defo allowed his death for a reason. the problem being i think next regenerations cant occur ( i think there is two left aint there?) until this is explained and sorted. and maybe this has to do with the fall lower than he has ever been. i think this possibly has to do with Amy and Rory's death/deaths. and the baby, as River said he will do whatever it takes to look after her, and i know cos its me. so he obviously has some input into her life even though i dont think he brings her up. and River wasn't that emotional with Rory as she was Amy. so maybe River kills Rory, or on a completely different tangent, maybe the best man River has ever known was the man who brought her up realizing he tired to get her to kill the Dr (in the space suit). And also the little girl in the space suit is her, and that nasty man she killed experimented on her to make the the best wepon against him. thats why she is in prison and they let her out now and again to try and get her pardon. it seems funny though that she stays there in prison at will breaking in and out at her leisure.

Then again i am probably taking poppycock lol.. there is probably a really sensible explanation and i cant wait
