Massive 'get out of jail free' card
Jepson
06-06-2011
Reading another thread I've just realised that the writers have given themselves a massive 'get out of jail free' card.

They can now bring absolutely anyone back from the dead by discovering that the version of them that died was actually 'the flesh' and where the real one is hidden.

Given the fact that after The Crack, the Cyberking and The Big Bang they have clearly signposted that "time can be rewritten" they didn't really need one.

But yes it would be another way, although I trust the writters not to abuse this to the point where's it's silly.

True, but this one can be used much more locally - a sort of precision instrument compared to the sledgehammer of the other techniques.

I agree that they won't use it to the point where it gets silly but it does make speculation a lot more involved as even if they only use it a couple more times that means that anyone could pop back into existence.

Yes, it could be done. But it won't, for exactly the same reasons.
Same as fobwatched Time Lords not making any repeat appearances.

bah, so you're ruling out a fobwatched ganger River Song ever coming back into existence through the power of Amy's mind? damn you.

I don't think we'll see it again, any time anyone dies ever in Dr. Who now it's likely to be touted as a theory though...

I want to at this, but, this will probably be also a theory in time... LOL

They made a big deal about the Doctor being caught out twice. By the end he'll either destroy the technology or have found a way to always be able to tell, but yes as it's sci-fi it's possible.

... amusingly, while we're going to hear speculation for ever more wondering if this or that character is a ganger, I'm betting only a tiny number of people guessed correctly that Amy & Melody were gangers before their respective reveals ... Moffat used gangers this time as it was a huge surprise to us all ... that's not likely to happen again soon!
