If someone sends a long message I get a [Receiving Text] notice which takes a while for the rest of the message to appear.

For the past few days its been doing it with nearly every text message I receive. V frustrating

Is this a problem with the network or the phone itself? (Blackberry on Virgin Mobile)

being unfamiliar with both BB and Virgin, I would think that what is happening is that a long text is actually sent as 2 or more separate texts. If you only receive one of the texts it displays 'receiving text' until the remainder of the message comes through. So more likely a network /signal thing. If it's happening with short SMSs though, no idea!!

I have experienced similar problems with a BlackBerry - but I am on Orange.

I am not sure that it is always when the message is long (covering 2 texts) - it has happened to me in short messages too.
