The crack and River (a theory - how rare...)

Sorry to add to the endless speculation...

But I've gained a theory in the last couple of hours following a rewatch of The Eleventh Hour and my rewatch of Forest of the Dead last week. I posted the first bit of my theory on another thread prior to Saturday's episode.

To recap what we already know (laborious but it kind of explains where my theory comes from):

So, we know that River is Amy and Rory's daughter Melody and has some Time Lord DNA in her - presumably by being conceived whilst in the time vortex. She has been taken by *somebody* to become a weapon against the Doctor. She kills 'a good man'. She 'dies' in the Library.

We also know from last series that somebody blew up the TARDIS creating a crack, a 'split in the skin of the universe'. We know the Doctor was placed in the Pandorica to keep the universe safe from him but that he escaped and fixed the crack.

Questions: why does River kill a man? Who is he? Who created the crack? Why did they imprison the Doctor? Why was the crack in Amy's wall?

My theory (and by now you've lost the will to live):

In 'Forest of the Dead' River referred to the Doctor as follows: 'You and me, time and space.' Looking at it from a language viewpoint, it's as if 'time' and 'space' apply to 'you' and 'me' i.e. the Doctor and River. The Doctor is a Time Lord; maybe River has some elements of 'space' in her from being conceived in the TARDIS (I'm not discounting the fact we've now 'met' the TARDIS, I like to think we'll see her again )

So if you take the Doctor to be Time and River to be Space, it throws this line about the crack from 'The Eleventh Hour' into a new light:

'Two parts of space and time that should never have touched... pressed together. Right here in the wall of your bedroom'

Perhaps, the thing which rips the hole in the universe is the Doctor and River together. Perhaps Melody has been taken to prevent that from happening, as if she kills the Doctor, then she won't be able to do whatever it is her and the Doctor do to create the crack in the first place.

Yes, there are massive holes in the theory and it's very far-fetched. I'm very bored.

*Watches as the first post rips theory to shreds*

Hi nice theory.
River is now Timelordish whether that fades when she gets older is a question that remains to be seen.
I like your theory but I dont agree with it.
I think the cracks were created because of the TARDIS exploding.
The TARDIS exploded (In my belief.) to stop River from being born. hence on Amy and Rory's wedding night. We now know she has been kidnapped to be raised as weapon. It could have been the silence who blew up the TARDIS to stop her. It could have been Omega (I dont actually believe that theory.) we simply dont know. Our questions will be answered in about 4 and half months.

Thanks

I prefer your theory although I suppose it could be linked in.

Oh and I bet if we get any answers we won't be satisfied - there'll just be more questions

So the real question is:
Do we prefer Amy's crack or River's crack?
