Help connecting a MSI Media Centre to a Samsung TV
We got a MSI media centre 2 christmasses ago but have not really used it much because my husband tried to run it on Ubuntu and it was very fiddly.
We have now got Windows 7 Professional on it and throught everything would be fine but it is not working. We have tried connecting to the TV (Samsung LE40R88BD) with both a HDMI cable and a VGA cable and it is doing the same thing. The TV screen looks fine while windows is loading and on the Signing in page but when it signs in and goes to the main windows screen the TV screen breaks up with diagonal breaks in the screen. When we open a window it goes at funny sizes and we cannot read the options. We have tried changing the resolution but that does not work. It works fine when loaded in Safe Mode. It works fine if you do CTRL ALT DEL and go to that screen but once you go back to the main windows screen it goes weird again. It did this with Ubuntu and my husband kept trying to fix it and did get it working but then we did not have sound. It works fine when I connect my laptop to the TV using the VGA cable and can play movies and things off my laptop. Sorry for the length but it is hard to describe. If you need pics of the screen to understand the problem then please just send me your e-mail. |

Check the refresh rate as well as the resolution. If the refresh rate is too high the TV might not like it too much. It probably doesn't like anything above 60 Hz.
