They say at the beginning that its already called Demon's Run and that the place name comes from the old saying about Demons run when a good man... etc. but at that point the battle hasn't happened yet, so how come it already has that name?

Was there a previous battle there where the same thing happened?

Timey Wimey? Legends come from Amy and Rory telling their daughter about what happened and it was repeated and told to other people until hundreds of years later it was an old legend

*croaks feebly* but that makes no sense, it can't have happened before it happened, unless all the people involved came from the future when it was called Demon's Run, went back to the past when it wasn't, but still called it that because they are from the future, and then proceeded to make it be called that by participating in the battle!

Remember Madame Vashta and Jenny came from the victorian era they could have wrote the poem.

no, and it's interesting that the demons are actually church warriors. Interesting iconography (for lack of another word) since traditionally demons are associated with the devil etc, and the opposite of the church.

Now you mention it, I'm reminded of Phillip Pullmans his dark materials when in the last book it's a war against the church so to speak.

True, but by that point in time the church is an army anyway.

My thoughts exactly. For this reason i assumed that the battle hadn't happened yet (for us) and that it took place a long time ago. This battle wasn't really deserving of such a legend particularly as very little blood was even spilled

Maybe that's the person Kovarian works for we did see several species combining forces and a child being important so there's not much else missing.

The Batlle of Demon's run. it says Battle not War, and the poem say's "where a good man goes to war" not where a good man goes to fight the war, anyway the point i'm trying to make is that its the begining of a big war as it says in the episode "the battle is won but the war has just begun" or something to that effect.

that's true. Kovarian keeps talking about the war. I think it's all part of one big war. The pandorica trap failed, so they just tried another similar one in this universe. Whether it's just because he's spent so long scaring people with his 'oncoming storm' threats that they are fed up with him now, or whether all his enemies are just being orchestrated by a larger force, time will tell

One of my favourite ever exchanges is between John Culshaw and Tom Baker:

JC: back in the 70s, what was that terrifying wizened thing in the chair?
TB: Oh! Davros
JC: No... Jimmy Saville!

That's really good but if you look at the doctors reaction when Amy describes kovarian in TAPhis reaction I think shows that he knows her so I think this is a part of the time war because remember the doctor talking about the " Nightmare child" so maybe that's who the child is

Demon's Run should of been like the Death Star trench chase scene in Star Wars. As Demon's Run just being a rock in space was a major disappointment.

The Nightmare Child is without a doubt my 3-year-old nephew

Except that it was the same for the Pandorica - it was a legend to River and the Doctor before it had actually happened.

You can't think linearly in a time-travelling show. Cause and effect don't necessarily have to happen in that strict order.

Indeed, River was tasked with getting everyone home.

As well as these two going back to the 1800s, a few pilots will be returning to 1940s London, some Silurians will be going back to wherever and so on. Eventually the Ponds may even go back to the 2000s with memories of Demons Run.

Plenty of time for legends to grow and the rock to be named for a battle that hasn't even happened yet.
