This is probly a long shot but this is how im guessing it will go, Eventually maybe the end of this series the doctor will marry river, however, when its time for smith to regenerate i think river will tell him that the new doctor wont be her husband and they will say there farewells, as i said, long shot, but this is my theory.

Its been highly suggested that A future Doctor is her Lover/Husband/boyfriend. I think I remember reading somewhere that the Doctor will get married Twice in this series. of course that maybe a red herring.

He's already married Marilyn Monroe. Does that count for this series, as it was in the Christmas Special?

I thought they'd gone off and got married, though he said later it wasn't a real chapel, or something similar.
Open to correction here, as always.
Matt smith isnt gunna regenerate at the end of this series anyways so I doubt rivers story is going to be expanded upon massively in the next half of S6.
This first half of series six has been pretty much her chapter in this part of the series anyways...much like in previous seasons.
I think on a long shot that maybe at the end of the year we have a resolution for lingering questions and maybe the happy couple might move on....they have a shelf life now being new parents.
The 2012 series will have a new companion and the river song story will wrap up with the end of steven moffats run as showrunner, with whoever (excuse the pun) is playing the doc at the time handing over HIS sonic screwdriver to River...after all the screwdriver river takes her death isnt the elevenths.
For all we know Moffat could be steering the ship for another 3 or so years yet and we dont know whats gunna happen inthat time but I DOUBT he'll ever donate a character of his to another showrunner again (captain Jack)....I think moffats gunna taker her with him when he's ready to move on and send her to the library.
or im well wrong and amy turns out to be the master, rory turns out to be a dalek/adipose spliced clone....river turns the universe inside out and the doctor has to hit the resut button again and we all wake up in our beds
