I'm about to upgrade my phone and quite like the Sony Ericsson k700i (must have a radio!) but I've read a more or less positive review that says it's biggest flaw is that it is exceptionally energy hungry, the battery only lasting two days after a full charge.

Does anyone have this phone? If so, what do you think of it?

I got this phone last week and I am really pleased with it.

As you quite rightly say, the battery life is it's biggest flaw.

If you can put up with charging your phone every other day then you will not be dissappointed.

Over the years I have had all the major SE phones - T68, T610 & T630 and the Z700 is by far the best

They are very good phones. I have one & the battery life is poor.

I'm thinking about getting a desktop charger? I've seen them on ebay for £4.99.

It comes from the far east, will it work here?

Apparently the latest software update, which your phone may have, and if it doesnt can be upgraded for free ata service centre, has improved the battery life.

The SE K700i will be my next phone, I love the feature of it, especially the radio! The battery life doesnt really bother me, I could put up with it lasting two days. If the battery life is improved on the newer versions, its a bonus!

From the main screen type >*<<*<*
Go to Service Info then Software Info.

The current software is listed on the first line. Unfortunately the Operators in the UK tend to tailor their software so it may not be the same as the officical release.

Getting the new software has been discussed in length on mobile 9. It appears that if you have a tailored phone (Orange, Vodafone etc menus) then the service centers will not update the phone for you.

This is a big big bone of contention as Vodafone have done some strange things like stopping MP3 ringtones amongst other things. I have the Orange version which isn't too bad. The most annoying point is that they removed the "more" button from the main screen so it's not a quick step turning Bluetooth on etc and more annoyingly, they have removed the ability to assign shortcuts to joystick buttons (which their customised manual says you can do!!!).
