The Face of Boe????? (SPOILER)
Haven't put this in a spoiler as it in the news.
It looks as though the rules are changing again as in DW it was implied that Captain Jack is the Face of Boe, however RTD has now stated that Jack will be rendered mortal in the new series of Torchwood and that there is only one way to prove his mortality. That seems to imply that Jack's future is uncertain! If this is the case where does this fit in the DW universe. |

I'd imagine he'll get his immortality back when they fix whatever needs fixing that stops people dying. Whilst there is indeed that threat of Jack's death, I can't see him being killed off.

Sorry to be picky, but this thread should have been spoilered. Even the DS report warned it was a spoiler. Some people may be quite annoyed they came to this thread.

Seeing as how they've basically said that whatever has caused the populace to become immortal has had the opposite effect on Jack. He could be put into some kind of vegetative state (he regrew from burnt remains, so he'd regrow damaged brain cells if still immortal) that would be reversed when they stopped the cause of the immortality (and thusly Jack's mortality).

He's a fixed point in time and according to the Doctor can't be killed.

Not in Torchwood - you're thinking of Doctor Who.

Wait for the series, all will be expalined, perhaps the mortality will be only until the rest of the world is put right and others CAN die again.

Superman has become mortal about once a year since the comics began - but he always gets his powers back.

Even if Jack did become mortal and/or killed off.. it was only implied he would become the Face of Boe. i personally dont like the idea of Jack suddenly becoming a big giant floating head in a jar?

Would be a shame if Jack died, I liked the idea of him being the face of boe. I could picture it as him ageing slower than the rest of the population and that's what he ended up being because his body was too frail so he kept dieing (like the heads in futurama) and him ageing odd anyway because he's not from earth... I should really stop over thinking TV I just upset myself when characters die

I prefer to imagine him waking up one morning, inside a giant fish tank and him saying "What WAS I drinking last night??"

Personally, I prefer to think of Jacks 'Face Of Bo' nick-name as being purely an amusing coincidence.
We all know that it's far more likely he'll end up resembling Casandra; only with a gaping hole on the reverse side that envelopes any unwary sailors who happen past. |

I vaguely recall that in the commentary for Last of the time Lords RTD tries to walk back from the implication in the episode that Jack becomes the Face of Boe.
Though there's nothing to say he couldn't change his mind again, nor that we have to accept anything not on screen as canon. |
