Of course it means something. Spoilers are where people reveal a fact about a yet-to-be-aired episode of a programme. How can talking about River Song's death, which was shown on TV three years ago, be considered a spoiler?

Tempted to say I probably shouldn't feed the troll...

That's as maybe - but it's impossible to have any kind of discussion if every single thing that could be mentioned has to be censored because someone out there might not have seen that particular episode yet.

Fine it's not a spoiler but do you not think it would be abit annoying for someone who's only watched since series 5 to not even be in a dw forum & see "River Song's Death" right there on the front page?

I'm not trying to feed the flames, I'm actually trying to be helpful. Her first appearance is during series 4 in a two-parter called Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead. I would highly suggest watching it as it will give you some insight into how the doctor perceives River at this point in time. Another I would suggest trying to watch is another Moffet penned episode titled Blink. Not only is it (in my opinion at least) the best episode of the Tennant era it is also the first appearance in the show of the weeping angels.

Well mostly, in episode 1, they would probably be thinking "Who the hell's River Song?"

By your argument someone watching Doctor Who from the very start would see a thread title "David Tennant's Doctor" and think "What the hell? They replace Hartnell!!!".

Let's hope they don't see "Regeneration Question".

Even "Series 7 confirmed" would be a spoiler.

I'm sure if the writers wanted to get her out of the virtual world she's stuck in they'd little problem. They could always do something like make a Flesh copy or something.

You mean William Hartnell isn't the Dr any more - how about Susan tell me she's still in the programme she's my favourite character

By your argument, we cannot discuss anything that has happened in previous episodes without spoilering them all, because someone might not have seen it?

That's just plain silly...

Are they still in the show & pretty much what the whole current series revolves around?

No, the first two were companions of the First Doctor (William Hartnell) and the third was a companion of both the Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) and the Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison). They are only the companions who have died while travelling with the Doctor. I put these facts in spoilers in jest further to the comment that everything that's happened in past episodes should be spoilerised in case some people have never seen them, and I would guess that a large number of people on this forum have never seen Classic Who.

Well maybe those people should not be coming on here. You might as well say we shouldn't discuss Patrick Troughton's Dr Who in case someone on here has just started watching the very first episodes on dvd and doesn't realise he regenerates.

No. She won't come back and I'm sure that the Doctor wont tell Amy and Rory that he's seen her die.

LOL!!!
I think taking River out of the CAL system would really loose the impact of her death. I still cry when I see the death scene and I have seen it about 50 times.

I'd say it would be the exact opposite of that.

Donna was "given" a handsom husband and kids, Miss Evangelista was eventually given brains and beauty. I think Dr Moon/CAL would create an entire life for her that provides exactly what is "right" for her - she'll be having even bigger and bolder adventures.

That virtual reality doesn't have to be restricted to the point of banality - it's not Leadworth If anything, CAL can create a universe for River where there is even more adventure - totally unrestricted by "rules" like the laws of time and physics and don't forget, she's an archeologist - she can go anywhere and anywhen without even needing a Tardis - or being restricted to planet Earth.

If that is the only criteria for using the spoiler tags then the final outcome of River Song need not be tagged since it is in an already aired episode.

By your reckoning nothing in the rebooted Dr Who series can be openly discussed.

I read that as "Taking the river out of CAL".

Think what that translates to on Gamma where they call everything wet a river

Oh my God but you do realise that if this were Dallas then you'd have just written the complete plot behind the recent couple of series of Who, don't you?

Everything that has happened has been a virtual reality environment to keep River happy!!!
