Nice tribute
Actually makes me wish she would change her hair colour back to red soon, it's much nicer than the recent blonde imo

By that reckoning the TV section would basically be void because no-one could discuss anything in case someone somewhere had not watched that show yet.

This is a discussion board -it's no one's fault you started watching later than them.

Considering Rivers death started her story on Who, you should be glad you know. It informs pretty much her entire relationship with the Doctor so far, and is rather crucial to the whole story.

It's implied at the end of FOTD that the Doctor has had a lot of time to think about River's death and even modifies an old sonic screwdriver (well, he moved on quite soon after that didn't he!, wasn't going to mess up his latest model!) to save her.

Maybe he was working on a solution to save her completely but ran out of time, realised River was heading to the library soon and came up with the saving in the library computer notion as a stalling tactic to give him more time on how to work out how to get her out of there.

Even if he can't get her out of there he could at least interface the computer with the TARDIS and make her slightly more mobile.
She could be the TARDIS version of Holly, from Red Dwarf, always appearing on a computer screen to chastise the Doctor and mess everything up!

That virtual reality doesn't have to be restricted to the point of banality - it's not Leadworth If anything, CAL can create a universe for River where there is even more adventure - totally unrestricted by "rules" like the laws of time and physics and don't forget, she's an archeologist - she can go anywhere and anywhen without even needing a Tardis - or being restricted to planet Earth.”

... glad someone remembers what Cal's capable of!

... the VR life Donna led was rather restricted by the thousands of humans Cal had saved from the library eating up her memory ... (actually requiring River to plug herself in & sacrifice herself in the end) ... Cal now has ooodles of memory to play with, the entire library of human history, and River has Miss Evangalista, Dave, New Dave, Anita, Cal & Doctor Moon to make things fun ... also, isn't there the little problem of the Vashda Nerada in the Library making River kinda hard to reach?

River's dead ... so lets show some respect & mourn her sacrifice instead of trying to fiddle a way out of it!

This. Its pretty tragic really but the Doctor is never going to bring River because as River says
Quote:
“Everybody knows that everybody dies. But not every day. Not today.”

The Doctor in the end gave her the life she has probally never had. He saved her so she will live for a very long time. If Moffat ever removes River from CAL I will lose all respect for him as a writer. (And that saying something because I bloody LOVE Moffat.) River's sacrafice was very important and upon reflection of the stories it shows the interaction between The Doctor and River even more sad because he knows one day, The woman that he loves and probally loves more than anyone in the universe (given the whole TimeLordish thing.) will sacrifice herself for him and 4022 people.

... yup ... Moffat got it right the first time around ... her ending most definitely doesn't need wibbly wobbly timey wimey tinkering!

... love how it's at least the second time she tried to sacrefice herself to save the doc & both times (with hindsight) he very patronisingly underestimated her abilities ... she's an enigma & slowly he's unlocking her secrets ... I'm loving it ... and from the look on his face so is he!

I mean River hasnt had the best start in life really when you think about. (I am going with the theory she is the little girl.)
She was born in the TARDIS and given a head start of the whole TimeLord thing. Injected/bombarded or whatever happens to her to give the full push to become timelordish. Then she is stolen from her parents and taken to an orphanage. Where she somehow at some point gets put in a space suit. She has the sinister silents (If these are good guys then I am quite worried to be honest.) affecting her everyday. At some point when she is 7-8 she meets her mum for the first time who promptly shoots her in the head to try and protect someone else. Then at some point she breaks free from the spacesuit when her mum is kidnapped by said Silents Then we fast forward to six months where she is on the streets of New York, she is cold and starving and dying. She then promptly begins to regenerate-its funny that she doesnt seemed shocked or surprised and actually seems to enjoy it.

(Dont get me on the whole River/Doctor timeline because i get so confused.)
p.s The Eleventh Doctor is loving this.

Yup ... I'm sure spending a little time playing mother to Cal & the freaky twins will be just what she needs ... River's life to that poing had definitely not been easy or normal! ... and she does have Rory's DNA mixed in there somewhere a little quiet time won't hurt at all!

Yeah let her rest in peace. She needs it. I mean the whole concept of bring her back actually sounds quite horrific really. I mean the only way you could really do it is put her (Mind.) into a ganger and that wouldnt do any good on adventures with the Doctor because she would just melt into a pool of goo with the Sonic.

I think if anyone deserves a peaceful place like CAL's world its River.
