Facebook Inside Xperia

Ultimately this could be me panicing over nothing but I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and updated the software to 2.3.3 Within this update is an intergrated Facebook to go with your phone so it combines your photos, contacts, music etc

But how intergrated is it? Im hesitant until I know so I haven't installed the feature as of yet. It says it will pull events over from facebook like friends birthdays and place it onto your phones calendar. The question is how much from your/my phone data will it ply back into facebook.

It talks about if you play a song on your phone, it can mention it on your wall. Imagine the shame if you played one of your old favourites for people to laugh at!

Has anyone tried this intergration, can security options be applied so you only transmit the data you want or is the data only reliant on your existing contacts in your phone and Facebook only pulls data for those contacts or will I have every Tom Dick and Harrys data appear on my phone?

Oh and don't worry, I do know the people on my Facebook. Some more than others but I don't add people just for the number count!

I've copied below the "rights" that the Xperia Arc has from Facebook's point of view, so you can have a look at what it can access. However, from a day-to-day experience point of view, you seem to be able to control how much information it makes public. For instance, it doesn't go willy-nilly posting your listened-to tracks on your wall unless you specifically 'like' them. You can upload photos directly from the camera or gallery to Facebook, but I think you may have always been able to do this anyway through the Facebook app. You're right that it does pull birthday information down, which is quite a nice touch actually. And it creates a couple more tabs on the "Contacts" people page, relating to uploaded/tagged photos of that person (although irritatingly, and I imagine this is a Facebook restriction, you cannot download those photos or use them as contact images), their interests, etc.

Hope that helps you a bit, but feel free to fire any other questions in and I'll see if I can answer them.
