Mad Scientist

Okay I dont know about you but its clear as day that Madame K has been playing Mad Scientist. Injecting the River Feotus with god knows what other nine months is pretty horrific when you think about it. This isnt a critic at Steven in anyway but do you think this parallel with those in the real world messing about with cloning and trying to make the perfect human and stuff.

Not much to do with the real world. It's about afuturistic sect called the Clerics trying to create a biological weapon by stealing a baby conceived upon a flying time machine so that they can fight a character called the Doctor. As I understand things.

I'd say it was more anti-religious than anti-science. The clerics are the ones to watch.

Do we know if the foetus was injected with anything at all?

But when Vasta said "You gave them one hell of a start." it seems to indicate that they have been fiddling.

I can't remember the context of that particular quote but Vastra & Jenny were definitely part of the show's political subtext whereas I believe the baby is simply part of the plot line.

Roughly, where in the episode does that line come from - so we can see it and put it in context? (In isolation, it reads like "you made them jump")

Okay - listened to it and nothing to suggest injections exactly but ....

...a very definite suggestion that the baddies had to have "tweaked" the pregnancy and the Tardis' vortex was only partially involved in the final result with the badguys doing something after conception to make Melody whatever she is.

Nice one sunbeam - worth at least three big smilies

I am not saying injections as such but I am no scientist-Thankfully.
I mean how else do you "Tweak"
it is still quite chilling in the implications that they have "tweaked."
Are you calling me sunbeam?

Could have beamed it with radiation or "wibble-wobble" particles

Yeah like I said I am no scientist.
But being beamed with radiation that would have affected Amy no?

I thought the 'head start' was the month where the Doctor and Rory went around collecting favours. But I do wonder what they have been up to with that baby!

No it refers to Melody.

The head start refers to allowing a human child to be born with time-lord DNA intertwined. Basically a gift to those who want to target the Doctor, how else to beat a Time Lord than with another Time Lord.

Something in her food, special spacey-wacey technology, too many of those damnable low-energy lightbulbs, some special property of that region of space - or maybe someone had built a half-working Tardis that continued to bombard Amy with vortex energy.

Don't really matter - in plot terns, they can explain it away as anything vaguely sciency and get away with it.

Low energy lightbulbs are full of the Time Vortex?

No wonder they take so bloody long to light up

There is absolutely nothing to suggest that that baby has been tampered with while Amy was imprisoned.

The 'head start' refers to the TARDIS being in flight and therefore exposed to the time vortex at the point of conception. Vashtra was saying that the Doctor gave her a head start.

I disagree - the lines are...

Doctor - "It doesn't make sense, you can't just cook yourself a Time Lord."

Vastra - "Of course not, but you gave them one hell of a start and they've been working very hard ever since."

They then continue talking about "they" - refering to the bad-guys.
