In the next series, Id love to find out more about Susan. Did she and the doctor steal the Tardis together? Is she a time lord? Is she still alive? Who is her mother and father? Lots of scope there.

Big Finish have continued Susan's story in some audios with Carole Anne Ford and the 8th Doctor. The Doctor is a Great Grandfather now

I've always been puzzled as to what happened to Susan. I'm one of those who does'nt accept the novels as being part of Dr Who canon. If it's not seen on screen then it doesn't count. I know a lot of people do accept all forms of Dr Who as canon so I'm probably in a minority. As to Susan I always assumed she was a Timelord amd that she was alive somewhere in Earths future. That being the case why did the tenth Doctor always say he was the last of the Timelords. ? So either Susan was not a Timelord or she returned to Galiffray to fight in the time war and is either dead or traped in the time bubble.

I've always assumed that the Time Bubble got all Timelords wherever and whenever they were and that they couldn't just sit out the war and therefore not be affected.

In The Doctor's Wife when he received the distress call Amy said something along the lines of "You said there were no other Timelords in the Universe" and he said "There aren't, but that's not where we are going, we're going outside the universe".

So basically the only ways we know of so far for a Timelord to have avoided being trapped in the Time Bubble are:

1. Be the man making the bubble, i.e. The Doctor.

2. Not physically/mentally be a time lord at the time, i.e. The Master.

3. Be outside of the normal universe, e.g. The Corsair in a bubble universe or the Daleks in a prison ship in the Void.

To go out on a limb here, could that mystery woman next to Rassilon in The End of Time be Susan?

It's something I don't think we'll ever know now.

I've never read the novels but, since the audios have all the original actors in them, I've always liked to consider them canon. At least until the TV show contradicts ithem.

She's certainly a Time Lord in the audios.

According to RtD that was the Doctor's mother.

It is very strongly implied that she returned to Galifrey and died in the time war. One of many examples is from The Doctor Dances.

Doctor Constantine: When this war began I was a father and a grandfather. Now I am neither.

The Doctor: I know the feeling.

It would make most sense that she was the Doctors' mum, although when Wilf asked who she was the Doctor just looked from Wilf to Donna - implying the same relationship eg granddaughter.

She wouldn't have had to have returned to Gallifrey to die in the Time War. My understanding is that all of the Gallifreyans were removed from the Universe by the Time War regardless of where or when they were.

It's implied (I can't remember where) that all the Time Lords were recalled to Gallifrey to fight the Time War. The Time Lords even resurrected the Master to help them they were that desperate.

Over the last 5 series it's been stated several times by the Doctor that his family are dead and he is the only Time Lord left
